Need router + modem reccomendations for 25Mbps plan (Teksavvy)

I'm switching from Rogers cable (canada) to teksavvy, and i was wondering what modem and router i should use?

Its going to be setup in the basement and the wifi has to reach to top floor of the house. The plan i'm getting is 25Mbps down.

My budget is around 100 dollars (less is preferable) for total costs.

If you guys could help me out that would be great.

And a modem/router in 1 unit wuld be better, but if they are separate and provide better quality for the price then ill take that.

The products recommended have to be from here: http://www.canadacomputers.com/ because i'm buying it locally. Thanks guys!

Assuming you are looking for an ADSL2 router / modem.

From that list and under USD100 (with the USD30 rebate) I would choose this Modem / Router which is an excellent product http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=27_1059_1060&item_id=065693

Whether it will work well in a three storey house though I cannot tell.

The best WIFI range I have experienced was in a Billion 8400 unit which was able to provide wireless service when I was on the third hole of the Golf course behind my house almost 200 feet from the unit. Sadly the unit used to get quite hot and after about 3 years the WiFi died completely, perhaps I should have bought a cooling solution!

Its always better to get a separate modem and router as it offers more options.

Second, setup your router to be in the middle of the house ( Horizontal and Vertically) because I doubt you're going to get proper speeds from the basement.

These days any top of the line router (Cisco,DLink, Netgear) get the job done.

Cant move it out of the basement as when the house was built everything is wired to that one place.
Right now i'm using the Hitron CGN2-ROG but as soon as i switch to teksavvy i need a new router+modem

If thats the only option, I suggest getting whatever you can for the price and later adding a repeater if the range falls short.

If you have cat3 or cat5 phonelines throughout your home you certainly can place the router anywhere in the home you want.

you will just want to pick up a pair of ethernet keystones and plates for rewiring, and possibly a cat and mouse ( aka fox and hound ) to trace the wires back tot he basement.

This is for a friend of mine, not my house. I want a easy installation and not to mess around with anything too much.
