Work well for the price? Or do you have something better in mind?

I would suggest getting a separate modem and route a hard line to a router located somewhere in the middle of the house. You can go about 100 meters with a cat5 cable before attenuation (signal loss), a cat6 will go about 200 meters. The modem/router combo you selected is for DSL, not cable, so make sure it's what you need. But this one is already out of date since the router doesn't support Wireless AC, which the standard that most new devices use. AC is backward compatible with N but any new devices or computers won't reach there maximum capable speed on N.

This the cable modem I use. I have 50mbps service from Comcast. This modem is simple, pretty reliable, not to expensive, and can handle speeds up to 172Mbps. I constantly hit 60Mbps on speedtest.net even though I have a 50Mbps package. I see those same download rates when downloading games from steam and other programs.

I used to use one of these modems when I was using their cable.

Used it for a couple of years then gave it to a friend after I switched to dsl. Never gave either of us any problems.

For routers, I have never had any luck getting something that could cover a whole house decently. Found that 2 cheap routers with powerline Ethernet between them seems to be the best way to connect larger places. Just have to play around with the router configuration a bit to get both working together.
