Personally I have no issue with the price of the Razer Blade. The resolution is fantastic, the graphics performance good whilst being in a small lightweight package. It's going to be a little pricey.

You are right that they don't compete directly, but I would hope something like this would at least light a fire under apple to provide better gpu performance, without trying to price gouge us. I love the quality of their products but the top of the line 15" is grossly overpriced and has a terrible gpu. The base models are fine but I need something I can play games on.

I don't think it will as the rMBP is really just a general purpose system. They focus on size, weight, battery life and overall good performance. I don't see graphics performance improving much more than the usual small amount from moving to next generation graphics, as that would effect battery life negatively and the system would have to be thicker and louder to compensate for the heat. Unless of course they release a gaming laptop but that would be an unusual move I think.

I do wish the next rMBP 13(hopefully with Broadwell in Q4) bump the res up to 2880X1800 so it have the same viewable screen area as the 1440*900 MBA 13" after pixel doubling(the current rMBP 13" is 1280*800 after doubling, thus you can see more on a MBA13 in comparison).

The majority of people who wants to buy a rMBP(like me) is not really interested in gaming on them, all they want is enough cpu/gpu power so that it don't bogged down on a 20+ tab web broswing session or a 10+ page complicated spreadsheet.

Definitely a fair point, but then I would like to see that 15" not 2,600 lol. I just don't understand that price on that one. You go from the macbook air at like 1200 which is a great value in my opinion to that 15" which is just horribly over priced.

That statement I made wasn't a condemnation of Apple so much as it was in response to the guy who said he'd upgrade it himself. Apple sells a crap ton of rMBP's smaller lighter etc. are obviously what people want it's just not what I want.

Do you mean bump the res up to 2880x1800? It's possible I suppose. They'd need to bump the resolution of the 15" up a little as well.

Ahahahahaha yeah it's a bit pricey. I wouldn't mind seeing them shave off $400 or so haha.

I understand that they have different targeted markets, but it was just a price comparision. 15'' rMBP start at $2000, 15'' Blade start at $2200, and is better in every single aspect. Its a steal compared to apple!

Yeah I do mean 2880 x 1800 on 13"

I suppose with 14nm Intel will be able to incorporate enough GPU EUs to make 2880X1800 smooth on a 13", and Apple can bump 15" up to 3600*2000 or something and keep it smooth with a second gen Iris Pro(they don't have to, they did keep Ipad Air at 2048*1536 while introducing Ipad mini retina at the same resolution). They probably still end up with a net gain in battery life thanks to 14nm. Despite a few rumors, recently leaked Intel roadmap still points to a Q4 Broadwell mobile launch so I am think it will happen.

Where did you get 15" Blade from? this new blade is 14.0" and that's a substantially smaller screen(rMBP15" screen is 27% larger, plus being a 16:10 screen would be preferable for web broswing /MS office work) compared to the 15.4" rMBP that weighs the same(4.46 vs 4.47lb).

15" rMBP(the $2000 base version) have a 256 GB SSD(vs 128 GB SSD on base blade), bigger battery(95 vs 70Wh)/longer battery life, 2x Thunderbolt ports(triple monitor support out of the box with thunderbolt or mini-DP cables). A lot of people not looking for a gaming laptop would view the 15" rMBP as the preferable product and a "steal" for their needs.
