[DSO] New Tech Demo Of Unreal Engine 4 Running On FireFox Without Plugins

As we told you a while back, Epic Games is gearing up for this year’s GDC. It appears that the company has been working hard on making sure its next-gen engine is compatible with FireFox, and released today a new video that gives us a sneak peek of Unreal Engine 4 running in Firefox at near-native speeds.

I cant think of many game engines that have browser support apart from Unity3D, and this works supposedly without plugins which is amazing.
It looks like UE4 will have compatibility with alot of platforms and ways to publish games, this could possibly bring in a wave of UE4 powered Web browser and FB games if they're not too hardware intensive, I wonder if Crytek will bring something like this to their CryEngine? They recently began to support Linux.

Oh man, I'd really love to see Unreal Tournament 4 wheee.gif

Unity3D might just be screwed! This looks great!

This hopefully opens up for multiplatforms so you can play the same game on Firefox in Windows and Linux for instance.

Unity is pretty much safely supported by the existence of its community content shop.

I guess I'm the only one not looking forward to MORE Unreal powered anything...the graphics always look so plastic-y and shiny that it just ruins it. I don't like being able to play any game from any genre and immediately go "Yep, this is the Unreal engine" (you all know what I'm talking about).

So yeah...I for one wish it would just go away.

I never liked the look of the Unreal Engine games for some reason, they just look too cartoonish to me. CryEngine on the other hand has a more photo-realistic look to it. The HDR (high dynamic range) and lighting always seems exaggerated in unreal engine games.
