Thanks again guys. Lots of help thumb.gif

First time with a Mac and for day to day usage and work, I am not going back to PC. For me PS4 and a mac mini is just a great great combo.

Oh before I forget, is there a way to turn on Mac Mini via the keyboard. also how can I turn off the mac mini with a keyboard macro? And I have the apple magic mouse and the bluetooth keyboard (both are awesome products).. How long does the battery last? Do I need the wireless recharge stations?
I will leave it to Xeb on the power functions. He has a better grasp on wizardry like that. I am not aware of anything but that is not saying there isn't something.

On the batteries, that is up to you. I think most people just use AAs and replace every few months. It will tell you when the battery is getting low. Show a notification in the bluetooth icon along the top. If you click on it the status will come up.

Oh if it is every few months than no need to grab another gadget. I believe changing the battery once in 2-3 months is perfectly fine...

Also guys I noticed something and I want to figure it out. When I download some .dmg file I can run it very well. However if I delete the .dmg file, the program also uninstalls itself.

Do I always have to keep the .dmg file around? Isnt it like the .exe file on the PC where once you install the program you can delete the .exe file.

For the mouse you are looking at 3-6 months and keyboard is about 5-7 months (approx.). As far as the keyboard macro goes:

Press CMD + Opt + Alt + Eject

This will turn off the machine.

Also, more magic can be found here:

Drag the .dmg/installer to the trash and "eject" it.

I actuallt did it once but clearing the trash also made the program gone. For examlpe I threw the googledrive.dmg to the trash and I want to delete it but I get a message saying that since google drive is running I can not delete it. Something like that.

I wonder if I did not install the programs and just running them or something like that.

For example when I downloaded the google drive. A window popped up saying Google Drive and Applications... I just click Google Drive. Once I clicked the applications and nothing really happened. Just applications folder on the mac poped up.
You need to drag the icon over to the applications folder. That is the installation. Some packages run an installer (example: Office for Mac) or you do the drag method. You are getting rid of the applications as you delete the. The preferences and data are still there though. You should see them in Macintosh HD>Applications folder. thumb.gif

Also as a side note, I like to customize the finder Preferences. Mavericks hides a lot of things by default so you can add some stuff easily there.

A note on removing applications. Some things put stuff EVERYWHERE. Especially things that require kernel extensions (NetNanny).
