I'm looking for some suggestions

Thread Starter
I'm currently looking for a new linux distro for a Samsung N150 netbook. (http://www.samsung.com/ph/consumer/monitor-peripherals-printer/notebook-pc/netbook/NP-N150-JA04PH-spec)

I've got linux mint 16 cinnamon installed currently and I'm not really liking it... there are too many weird little problems and I don't like the overall feel of it. I was wondering if any could suggest a good stable distro that has a nice looking interface (preferably one similar to Windows instead of OSX)?

Also if there's anyone that could suggest things to install after a fresh install to get the laptop at 100% that would be great.

I'm a bit of a linux noob but I've been playing with it for the past couple of years off and on.

Mainly the screen dimming and not returning to full power after closing and opening the lid... I tried adjusting the settings manually but it takes a reboot to fix it.

Screen is not able to be controlled by the keyboard? and it won't wake from sleep?

Did you install the proprietary drivers?

It'll wake from sleep but the screen is dimmed once it does and nothing will change it back... I even googled some solutions that didn't work. There were no proprietary drivers to install though. I didn't manually search for them but I did use the Driver Manager which told me there were none available.

Another thing is that the charging indication cuts out and comes back on randomly... it'll say it's charging the battery to 100% but the laptop cuts off once the cord is removed... I've been assuming it's a bad battery though but it would be a nice surprise if it wasn't.

Lemme know if you have trouble after installing Antergos. Provide the output of the following commands as well:

lspci
lsusb
ls /proc/acpi
ls /sys/class/backlight
pacman -Qs nvidia catalyst radeon fglrx intel dri laptop
To make this easier on you, copy and paste the following into a terminal and post the contents of the file generated:
Code:
( echo $' lspci: \r\n' ; lspci ; echo $'\r\n lsusb: \r\n' ; lsusb ; echo $'\r\n /proc/acpi: \r\n' ; ls /proc/acpi ; echo $'\r\n /sys/class/backlight: \r\n' ; ls /sys/class/backlight ; echo $'\r\n Installed Packages: \r\n' ; pacman -Qs nvidia catalyst radeon fglrx intel dri laptop ) > ~/diagnostics.txt

Edit: Fixed above terminal command to work with current iteration of bash/echo. Printf would have probably been a better choice.
