BF4 + Premium. Though it's a stupid statement because you're not FORCED to buy premium. You can play just fine (well, as fine as you can in Battlefield 4) if you don't.

No one forces you to buy Premium. Lots of people don't. There are many servers that use the default maps on either platform. So no, BF4 is not 110$. BF4 + DLC is 110$. But that also extends the experience. I do think DLC is garbage though. It can be great, but when it's a few damn maps for 15-20$ that is a bit ridiculous. I remember BC1 added maps, guns, vehicles and stuff for free.

But how can I sell the value of the true "gaming" machine I sell if the big 3 lower their prices? Right now I can build a pretty damn good system for $1200 which is right around what a Dell XPS 8700 runs. Granted I do think they are over priced but that should make all of us enthusiasts proud of what we can build. The mainstream PC business might be dying but not the aftermarket. Cause plain and simple truth is, PC Gaming is better than Console!

Thing is, I think that a huge appeal of the hobby is that it isn't plug-and-play. Sure, if you can find me a really good prebuilt for the same or less as I can build an equivalent system, I might consider it. But I don't want something to plug in and turn on. That isn't fun. I want something that I make with my own two hooves hands. If I wanted plug-and-play, I would have gotten an Xbone and a PS4. If I wanted the ultimate gaming rig, I would have more than a 650Ti BOOST (though in my defense I am waiting for Maxwell before I make a really big upgrade). I wanted what I got: a long term project that I haven't stopped tinkering with, from things as simple as airflow and peripherals to stuff like crossfire and (FINALLY) getting Linux to dual-boot nicely.

I agree. Granted $60 is a pretty hefty chunk to come off of up front but averaged out over the hours and hours played it's a steal. No other hobby is this cheap. Period! Where I have to draw the line in with BF3 and BF4. $120 is just dumb. No way we should continue to have to pay for 4 new maps every single expansion. Back in the day BF42 was $29 and I got all the maps. What the hell has happened in the last 10 years?!

As much as I hate the DLC model, you can't argue that it's ineffective. Spend $60 at launch, and then $15 a couple months later, $15 a bit after that, and so on. Eventually, that's $120 for a game that essentially gets an annual reskin. Rinse and repeat and enjoy your gold-plated limos!

Ya I rethought the math and although it seems shady you're in reality getting 6 games for $80. That's what I ended up paying. Haha

DLC is case by case, There are some DLC packs that are great (the Mass Effect story DLCs for instance, Fallout 3 and New Vegas' DLCs, Some of the Skyrim ones, I've enjoyed Company of Heroes 2's additional Theater of War missions..) others are less so.. I buy the ones I like and ignore the rest...but anyways

As for the "death" of the PC I dont know, I have a Tablet (A Dell Android one.. Venue 8? is that it? Cant be bothered to care) a smartphone (HTC One) a desktop and a laptop... All of which I use for very specific things... While theres overlap, rarely are they used outside those designated functions... Most people I know have at least a PC and a smartphone or a tablet, and most of those folks i know would be very clear that a tablet, no matter how good, just simply cant replace a real PC, The closest are some of the Windows Tablets (Because they CAN run some full windows apps and stuff), Some sites just simply do not play nice with a tablet or with Android...

Death of the custom build market i only see happening one of two ways, Prebuilt options get more affordable and capable (thus driving DIY away) or Intel pulls a dick move and stops allowing companies to sell discrete parts, And if that happens prepare to see PC gaming rigs and such increase in price without the competition from the custom build market, and some of the smaller vendors going out of business... I know theres been rumors of integrating the CPU onto the mainboard for a bit now, which would suck..
