Cheap pump recommendations: CNC router

Hi guys

I'm nearing completion of a CNC router (computer numeric controlled woodwork router) build using a 2200W spindle which happens to be water cooled and have already overstepped my budget... so I'm on the lookout for a cheap / < $50 (but hopefully reliable) pump. I think a flow of 2 litres a minute ought to do it. Anyone got any recommendations?

Why ask about this on a PC forum you ask? Simple: components for PCs are generally of reasonable quality and price... and the collective cooling knowledge here is probably better then places like CNCZone.

Ideally I will eventually upgrade the pump and add a good radiator (+fans) able to dump the ~400W of heat being generated by the spindle at max load (should be more like 100-200W the rest of the time). Until then I'm going for the cheap option of using a bucket of water as the reservoir and radiator. redface.gif

I've been keeping an eye on the for sale section as well but have missed out on any deals within my price range so far. I'm hoping to build this thing solid enough to machine copper and aluminium. biggrin.gif

Any advice greatly appreciated. thumb.gif

Also another sort of pump you could look into would be a automotive electric water pump.
You can get those priced from $50-150 based on flow, Just they are a lot noisier and draw a lot more current.

Thanks guys... a couple of good options there by the look of it.

Another one I have been looking into is pumps from china (via Dealextreme and Aliexpress). Was thinking something along the lines of these: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Guaranteed-100-Submersible-Pump-CP40A-3660-Water-pump-Solar-pump-DC-Mini-pump-36V840mA-Color-Black/498038542.html

36V (they also come in 12V variations) so will work with my stepper motor power supply. Cant find any info on this forum but maybe someone here has had experience with these?

These Laing DDC pumps are made in Europe. Sure beats China made any day. thumb.gif
