Monoprice 30" 10734 to buy or not to buy?

I need some advice here. I mainly do development work and have been using a dual Dell 3008WFP's for the past 5 years one of them finally died and I have since then sold the other one. I have been planning to get four new screens two for my main machine and two for my mobile powerhouse.

I'm stuck between PA279Q which itself is an excellent display I recently had a chance to test one out. At work I get hand me downs from our graphics department so I'm currently using a 30" NEC screen which has to be constantly calibrated and runs hotter compared to my old Dell's.

Since real estate matters to me, I'm leaning towards the Monoprice screen from what I have gathered it is a rebranded Achieva Shimian QH300 and uses the same LG display than Dell U3014 has. I heard that the said screen suffer from uniformity issues and have severe backlight bleed; it'd be great if anyone here can confirm that. I have noticed that few U3014s we use at work suffer from cross-hatching and excessive backlight bleed. Has anyone bought these screens from Monoprice? If so what is your opinion?

I have accepted the fact that I might receive a screen with dead pixels as the panels used in them are not A+ quality. However, if they are a plagued with the problems mentioned above I'll probably end up getting the ASUS 27" screens. From the reviews I have read on Monoprice most of the people seem to be happy with their purchase, however, I have learned not to trust reviews the hard way.

Thanks in advance,
--Mikhail

The Monoprice is a good one. And don't settle for a 27". I am about to upgrade from 27 to 30".

The PA279Q suffers from extreme overshoot ghosting that you'll notice even when scrolling down a webpage.

30'' displays often have more pronounced IPS glow, which makes perceived blacks looks less impressive.

Have you considered the Viewsonic VP2772? TFTCentral should have a review up soon.

Karnoffel, for the price of VP2772, I'd rather get a U3014. Not sure how true this is, from what I've heard PA279Q is a copy of U2713HM, therefore, I assume it also has ghosting issues. However it is cheaper nearly $200 cheaper.

As I have mentioned in my original post, I don't do graphic design nor do I game. I could care less about colors on a development only machine.
