In MENU ads for Battlefield 4 is not surprising nor upsetting in the least. Ignore the damn things if they bother you. Oh wait, you just want more reasons to hate EA? Almost forgot.

Nope.
Nope.

I don't remember ads in ME2, DE:HR, L4D2, BC2, Ds2, Sanctum, Metro 2033, AC:R, Rust unless they have changed that recently to add ads in my loading screens. Now I just chose those titles since they are my most played on steam.

The only ones really getting twisted are the ones defending EA's practices. As far as myself I just simply don't want to support those practices and the only way to voice it is by not purchasing said product. There isn't anything wrong with making an informed purchasing decision based on the information available to us.

If you have a problem with me or others not following the trend and just purchase the game just to have it then your problem does not lie within this debate but something outside the realm of OCN.

+1

The "you don't complain about ads in x" argument is pretty weak, people have been complaining about cheap and classless product placements in films and television for years. Even then it's still not something they do post-release.

You don't make a film, wait for reviews, then edit the film to promote a specific product.

Agreed. If I have to suffer through long load times just to see a stupid ad in a game I paid for then I will be rather cross. In fact, I agree that its pretty ludicrous to have ads there at all but its just not something that I can get all that worked up about...

They've literally always done this. If you go load up Battlefield 2 or Battlefield 2142, you'll see an advertisement for Battlefield 3.

I think your mixing up the systems a little.

Steam and Origin are product platforms. No one is arguing seeing ads on either or the targeting of products by either platform.

Steam does not place ads in games.
Origin does not place ads in games.

BF4 places ads in game. Many do not like the increase in ads placement including me.

This isn't an argument about steam vs origin. This is about seeing ads in a game.

i think it's just EA hate. there's been ads in games since the dawn of gaming.

another one off the top of my head... BLADES OF STEEL

between the periods there were intermissions where you played little demos for other games! That game was released in 1987!

well hopefully the need for speed movie will be better then the last 7 games because EA already destroyed that franchise lets hope the dont destroy the BF franchise by adding annoying clutter to the game smile.gif
