OMG, and I thought I could keep the wallet sealed, at least for 6 months or so

1500 dollars is way too much IMO. Intel knows that. 1000-1200 would be my estimate

In a perfect world

12 Core EE - 1499.99
10 Core EE - 1299.99
8 Core EE - 999.99

I never understood why intel doesnt give us some crazy high core EE's. Price them to the moon if you want Intel. We'll still buy them.

How much do you guys think a decent motherboard will cost?

And why do they still have USB 2.0 ports? is it because they way more than they should have?

USB 2.0 should be less expensive to license and consumes less power. It is perfectly fine for peripheral devices and I don't mind seeing it at all.

They're all decent motherboards. The higher priced ones just have more features. 200 dollar X99 Extreme 4 will max out Haswell E on air and water

Yep, I own a single 3.0 device, and it's a flash drive that barely maxes out 2.0. There's a handful of things that can actually take advantage of 3.0.

Well, that's not bad for the introduction. I'd be very surprised if it launched at the same price as DDR3. The price will taper over time to be the same as the current prices. PCWorld said to expect a launch premium of 30%.

Is there any indication of what speeds DDR4 will be launching at besides 2133? 2400? 2600?

For what i need(and willing to spend on my pc atm), i want to see a solid Haswell-E mid-range cpu.
I'd go for one, also 8gb DDR4 and a decent mobo.
Maybe holding back on any further upgrades for a while now has been a wise choice.rolleyes.gif

I wish Corsair would launch their Dominator Platinum lineup with DDR4. Heck, their DDR3 DomPlats go all the way up to 2666. I can't imagine 2133 DDR4 being that much more expensive than highly binned 2666 DDR3.

EDIT: Holy crap what's going on with RAM prices??!?!?!
The 16gb of Dominator Platinum 2133 I bought in early 2013 was only $253 off amazon. Now it's listed for $360. kookoo.gif
