again, there has to be incentive, such as fewer cores (although its pretty much been confirmed 6 core will be the lowest for s2011-3, at least on consumer side), no HT (never seen an i7 w/o HT), less cache (almost laughable at this day and age for desktop computing, unless its a crippling amount, it certainly doesn't matter in i5 vs. i7 on the mainstream side) and the only other way I can think of is if they somehow decide to disable number of PCI-e lanes and/or memory controller, but that would be a first.

I was mostly just challenging your speculation that there wouldn't be an 8 core K part, and was curious if it was just speculation and not something more concrete, because I just don't see the logic there at all.

I'd say it would be far more likely to see an ~$800 8-core 5930K and a $500-600 6-core 5820K, rather than a $600 6-core 5930K and a $400 6-core 5820K
yeah, I said it took a couple months to get non-extreme 6-core part, but 3-4 months is far better than a year+, which is what you were inferring with Broadwell-E

The 3960x and 4960x have 15mb L3 cache while the 3930k and 4930k have 12mb L3 cache. Agreed though it doesn't make much of a difference most of the time.

Looking like an expensive year. Haswell-E, new mobo, DDR4, Asus Gsync monitor, and possibly a couple of 880's depending on reviews. Love it. thumb.gif
