Cuda cores: 1152 or 640.

Kepler or Maxwell

It would seem to me that a design would have to choose one of the two and not be able to mix them or battery life would be pretty off.

Thanks for the info.

Kepler is probably an MXM B card i don't think they'd go through the trouble of trying to solder that card to a board. In which case it will likely just idle off when it isn't being used.

I am pissed that clevo/sager did this

They released the w230st which i bought (love it still)
Prema Released V2 Mod=AWESOME

Then boom what did clevo and sager do.... Release the refresh models with the the 860m and not even hint at doing this at the start of the year...

So ya really angered.. Now resale value of this laptop has dropped significantly due to this BOGUS refresh...

They still have yet to fix the fan profiles even for the np7338..

So to those out there as the OP has stated BEWARE of scams and watch what you buy... Tons of research should be done prior to purchase.. dont just go of others judgements find the right priced laptop with the right components...

Basically i got Screwed over on my deal

How did you get screwed, you got what you paid for?

What did you expect? this happens in every market... cell phones to cars and everything in between? nvidia along with a lot of other manufacturers do a model refresh in the beginning of the year as well... its how they stay in business.

Its not a scam on the part of clevo or sager. Its a shame manufacturers do it, but every generation bump gives higher clock speeds and better performance, they rework things to use up old inventory. Then later this year, beginning of next they will release the true maxwell cards all the way across the board. Nvidia and ATI have been doing this for years now..

If you bought at the beginning of this year or the end of last year I can see you being upset, but you very easily could have figured out when your laptop came out and deciphered that a new model was due out eventually. It's not like people were unaware that maxwell was due out this spring in some flavor...

I bought my W230ST with the GTX765M and an i7 4700mq for 700 euros. Spent 50 euros in 8gb of RAM and 340 euros in 500GB of SSD.
My computer has lost value since I purchased it? Yes.
Will there be better performing parts soon? Yes.
Are there better performing laptops when I bought it? Yes.
Do I care? No.
Does it do what I ask of it? Yes.

Every year new tech comes out.
You can be the early bird or you can get late to the party. Regardless of that every self respecting IT guy that is buying a high powered computer should know the release schedules. They are almost always the same. Q2-Q3. Sometimes Q4 shows some more tech also.
There nothing worthwhile on Q1.
Same happens with games and movies. So yea.

True, still... the 860M is a good bit faster than the 765M and runs cooler and draws less power. tongue.gif And overclocks just as good if not better. So yeah...

the 765M isn't a slouch though.

Going from a 1080p at 22 inch to 1080p at 13 inch what I can tell you is that it took some time getting used to it.
I dont use the computer glued to my face but when web browsing I gotta increase the zoom on certain web pages so it doesnt tire my eyes.
Worst part is playing BF4 lol, I feel like I can't see anything cause everything so small lmao.

Also I haven't looked at overclocking my card. I flashed prema bios v2 and the unlocked vbios, got nvidia inspector to check some game profiles and change them.
But I honestly havent really gave myself the time to work on overclocking the GPU, need to read up on its behavior with some oc guides, feel free to link some for me if you wish.
It is turboing to 932Mhz on core tho.

Oh without a doubt for sure would need to spend a little time getting used to. Thats why I feel 15.6 is perfect for me until later so I dont get the urge to want to trade or sell my laptop. I need to get out of the habit of doing that lol
