Maybe. They put a lot of faith in a) you having updated software/firmware for the phone and b) SELinux being able to prevent privilege escalation or something overlooked allowing them further into the devices. They also say "it's only going to get them access to a small part of your phone". That's like saying...they only made it into the garage so you shouldn't worry.
Considering my GNexus stopped getting software updates back in July I think...I'm a little worried but at the same time mostly pointless nonsensical pictures of a non-compromising nature (they're accounting hw mostly) and my horribly dated and poorly maintained phonebook are really all I have on the thing. Still wish I could get Ubuntu working on my phone or Replicant was further along for it.
