Fx8320 + Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0 - Page 2

CPU 0 and CPU 0 Package are both vcore (you can rename by right clicking). CPU is your socket temps.

Is that your temps at idle ? Edit, never mind, heh.

Cpu Package, which shouldnt be more than 62, and the "Cpu", which is the socket one, that should be more than 72ºC, am i right?
Well, according to AMD Overdrive, which uses distance to Thermal Margin, the max core temp on my FX-6300 is 70C. And Ive heard 72C is max acceptable socket temps, which too me is one hot socket, heh. My socket temps, with the fan on the back and a fan on the vrms that also blows towards the socket, are always lower than core temps by about a couple of degrees C.

To get to 4.5 ghz, youre going to need in the neighborhood of 1.4 - 1.45 vcore. But youre going to need to cool that socket first. BTW, the motherboard uses the socket temps to go by in fan settings etc, so unless you get the socket temps down youll start throttling.

My socket is always a lot more hot than the cores :/ i've put the stock amd cooler fan on the top of the vrm. I didnt putted on the back, because on the back my case is not "opened", and i would have to mod it and make a whole to have air flow on the fan.

Most cases could fit an 80 X 15 fan on the back without cutting, but not all cases have enough air spaces to the front so that the air would be free flowing, resulting in just pushing around hot air. It all depends on the case.

cpu nb back to 2000
ht link at 2400
My recommendation

- Your CPU/NB Voltage is still high - setting it around 1.15-1.2v will help a lot with the Socket temp seeing as you aren't OCing you Ram.
- Putting the Stock Heatsink fan behind the socket will help. Have it blow onto the socket. (the fan is small enough to fit with the back cover on)

That should drop the Socket temp by enough to get you into the 4.5Ghz range. Also, your Socket Temp will never get that high under normal usage.

Hello there, im on 4.4 and i think its stable, i put the fan behind the socket as you said, and put another 80mm fan blowing air to the vrm.

I will go into the bios and say my settings, wait a second. Here are my temps after run a AVX test with 3GB of ram.

Max 62ºC on Socket, and Max 51ºC on cores.

Settings:

Sometimes it pass the test, now tested again, and it didnt passed a 30 times test with 3gb of ram. Had to get the voltages up a bit, and it passed. Will test tomorrow again, and see if it pass again.
