Big die GPU usually cost a lot more to manufacture due to exponential yield issue, for ex. GK110 550mm2 is likely to cost a lot more than two half size 275mm2 GPUs.

may be it is time to stop bother chasing to get on the latest node strink ASAP(just wait it mature) and make dual GPU chips in the mean time?

Quantum computers will be great for specific calculation. You probably won't see it in consumer grade processor for a long long long long time.

I mean, we are close to the physics actual limit for computing. Somewhere around 5-4 nm the electrons will just go trough the gate that is closing the transistor no matter what you do so progressing trough under 10nm will be a Hard, hard time. The near future is all about real fast Graphene transistor (talking 10-20 years maybe? we've already seen first working transistor in lab so mass production is getting there

The bigger the die the bigger the bigger the chance of bad transistors. So not only is it more expensive because it's bigger, but big dies also have lower yields, so the price increases exponentially as you make the die bigger.
