Thoughts on new build

Thread Starter
Hey guys haven't been gaming as much last few years so been happy with my setup but have been exploring at a refresh lately and get up to speed.

I'd like to aim for 1920x1080 60fps low AA with games such as BF4, Witcher 3 on the highest settings, what do you guys think of these parts I came up with. My budget is £500-£600.

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/39F76

CPU - AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz
MB - Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0
RAM - Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600
SSD - Crucial M500 240GB
GPU - Sapphire Radeon R9 270X 2GB or 270?
PSU - SeaSonic S12II 620W

On the cpu I'm not sure if I should go with the FX-6300, FX-8320 or FX-8350. I am thinking the 8320 is the sweet spot with the 8350 being more power hungry.

I'd like to stick to the new build for the next few years with minor upgrades like gpu, ram but aware down the line I won't run every game to the highest but still try to maintain high settings.

Appreciate your thoughts on this build.

That is a good psu and happy to go with for only a bit more than the SeaSonic but do I need 750w when I only plan on running one graphics card.

Had not thought of a cpu cooler. Don't know much of that Coolink one will check it out. What of the CM Hyper 212 EVO which I see is popular and gets mentioned a lot. I would also like it to be a quiet one.

On the case I also like that NZXT you suggest, I myself would go for the black one which can be had for the same price. Only concern is the bottom mounted psu. The case is going to be placed on carpet floor. If I go for this I imagine I would have to place something underneath to raise it off the ground.

The GA-970A-UD3P and M5A97 EVO R2.0 are both very similar in specs and price. Only thing I can see is the M5A97 EVO R2.0 having a 6+2 power phase and the GA-970A-UD3P having a 8+2 power phase. Either one would be good choice to go with?

As for the case you want a bottom mount PSU, just turn the fan on the PSU facing inside.

The xfx is a seasonic s12II rebranded psu and alsways is good to have a good space for overclocking. And crossfire

That coolink should be a better heatsink than the hyper 212 but obviously I have chosen that one because it has lower height and would avoid any kind of clearance issue with the case, and the good cases have a bottom psu mount

And the case fits 160mm heatsink(but clearly is 159 the maximum)
http://forum.overclock3d.net/showthread.php?t=40414

The heatsink is almost as good as the nh d14(not the same but near) for cheap
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coolers/display/coolink-corator-ds_7.html#sect1

I selected the r9 270 because it had bf4 for free but if you already own it the r9 270x is better(and another disadvantage is that the r9 270x can be oced further(1250mhz) vs the r9 270(1100-1050) on core obviously the r9 270x is better if you are going to overclock.

The higher number of power fases(vrm) will let you overclock higher.a 6+2 for same money doesnt worth it.

Both those PSU's are crap. The silverstone is made by FSP and the Be Quiet is a HEC unit. Both are likely to catch fire.

But you can run this whole system off a 550W, 650W if you plan on over-volting the CPU and GPU.

They are not crap, sold many of them over the years and never an issue. Unless you have 100% solid proof of what you say, you will be ignored.

The SilverStone is somewhat decent from what i can recall and the Be Quiet is like everything else made by HEC dont bother

Not saying both are super crappy they are not but they are not great either

Thanks for the suggestions, been occupied over the weekend so didn't get time to respond.

I was just looking at the two cases suggested. Both for the price come across great and have their pros cons but I won't be too picky at this price. I like the NZXT minimalist look but I am leaning towards the Z3 Plus, for among other things mesh design and has dust filters around the case and the psu areas whereas the nzxt is a bit more open giving more airflow but then I would have added a few filters myself. I've also read some reviews here on ocn on the Z3 and it seems all good except for the fans being weak but I've already got some so just replace them if that is the case.

Have bf4 still sealed so yeah I'll go with 270x and also go with the Gigabyte mb.

The M500 was on sale at its lowest its been so grabbed that now. Will update you guys on all the parts I end up selecting before buying.

Just wanted to post that update as I feel I'm done with build for the most of the part.

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/3fSAW

Picked new case which costs a bit more and I'll just be looking into a cooler with the Corator DS in consideration. Taking me on to the psu, I will do some OCing but I won't crossfire therefore the 620w will be more than enough and that is a good deal on that one.

Main change has been the mobo and have gone with Gigabyte PontiacGTX suggested.

CPU - AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz
MB - Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P
RAM - Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600
SSD - Crucial M500 240GB
GPU - Sapphire Radeon R9 270X 2GB
PSU - SeaSonic S12II 620W

Thanks for your help guys
