[OC3D] First look at Corsair 760T - Page 12

Not going to lie, we did have a lot of problems with the window. The original plan was to launch this at the same time as the 230T last year, but once we decided to go with the full side panel window we had to determine how to do it. There's a reason nobody in the industry has done this yet - it's really damned hard and expensive. The manufacturing process didn't really exist at our suppliers so we had to help create it. We ended up with flow marks, cloudy windows, etc. This is part of the reason for the delay.

But now we're comfortable with the quality - it came out great. It really doesn't look like anything else on the market.

It's expensive - I'll grant that. But the overall build quality, compatibility, cooling, and expansion (and the full tower size) are the majority of the reasons for this.

The price gap will be $20-$30 more than a 750D. For that you get the swing out doors with tool-free latches, full side panel windows, front LED fans, and built-in fan control toggle (7V to 12V).

If it's not worth it to you, then by all means please buy a 750D. biggrin.gif

Seriously though, I know that this isn't everybody's cup of tea. Graphite Series is about bold designs that will piss off about half the people looking at them for some reason or another.

I would say that it paid off. I still think the design is rather unique and it's good to push the industry to new manufacturing techniques. I don't plan to buy the case but I still like it. Maybe if something similar to this but with out the 5.25 bays up top so we can fit two 360 rads in there. Or maybe come up with a way so you can have a removable 5.25 bay cage so people like me who want more rad space, have the option to fit something there. For the people who don't need it, they can leave in the cage. That would be awesome.

The thing is, it seems like the only complaint most people have about its looks are those 5.25" drive bays. And taking a look at other Graphite Series cases, the drive bays don't stand out like they do on the 760T. Had you guys kept the same look as the other Graphite Series cases, I think we wouldn't be hearing these complaints.

Hmm, now I'm wondering if some mesh covers would do the trick.

I have to agree, I would love to see an add on that allows us to cover/remove that and put something in its place. I haven't used a disc drive in years...

I still use my Bluray drive a good bit personally...

The 5 1/4" bays are fine. Even if you don't use a disk drive, some of us use 5 1/4" bays for reservoirs.

The window is flat out amazing--really tempted to bite on this. But the color scheme is a little too "camp" for me... No all black or all white, or all another color? You've got the sheer edges of the beautiful window to white...and then a black front panel? Hmm.

I've also never really been a fan of the very coarse mesh on the front of Corsair cases because up close it looks bad. Plus, I can't imagine that it catches much if any dust.

But that window... drool.gif

I wonder if other companies will pick up on this acrylic side panel and it becomes the next "big" trend in cases? You have to give it to them, Corsair is typically at the head of the trends...

Didn't say to take them out, said they don't look good and would have been better if they looked like other Graphite series cases. People can put whatever they want on those bays, but for people that don't use them, would be nice to either cover them or have drive bay covers that blend in to the front of the case, not pop out (visually) like they do now. Oh well, maybe when they come out with a Micro ATX version it'll look a little different.
