Need help achiveing just over 4.ghz stable

I have tried lately and it seems if change my nb hz too much it freezes, im a noob from s939 dont know how to balance nb + ht.
I found these settings im gonna try, just a bit less.
"cpu volts load at 1.44
cpu/nb volts 1.44
nb at 2500
ht at 2750
fsb 250
multi x18
ram 1672
cpu llc ultra high
cpu/nb llc high
"

hopefully can get stable, just asking if anyone else has this same setup + settings they can post too? or yeah i dunno lol.
Also how do I keep my cores from not using full power, they always just change when they need to go up during Load?
And is there a program to turn off cores (like turn off 2 at night to just run 4 cores?)

thanks! total noob questions...

Why don't you just up the multiplier? and leave the FSB? Doing the FSB also overclocks your ram, which requires you to go mess with the ram timings, which is more advanced. I believe HT above 2000Mhz makes no difference if im correct.

Okay, thats what i thought too, but ive never OC'ed multiple core new **** systems...seems like lots of people changing both the FSB nowadays and the multiplier? and thanks for HT info.

Yeah, but most do the multiplier only first, to get a feel for the system.

Heres a guide.:
http://www.overclock.net/t/1348623/amd-bulldozer-and-piledriver-overclocking-guide-asus-motherboard/0_20

The Gigabyte boards are a bit different from Asus, but the basics are the same.

In bios, you enable Cool N Quiet along with C1E, and set your voltages to increment instead of using fixed numbers.
But while trying to find your max overclock, you want CNC and C1E, C6 disabled.

You can do that in bios.

So I got a pretty stable clock for.

cpu vcore 1.356
nb vcore 1.40
nb 2200
ht 2500
no fsb change
multipler x20
no cool n quiet, c1e, or c6.. 3.8Ghz or something. did well for OCCT test. max cpu 55. but nb was getting high at 61.
thinking i should bring down the nb volt?

Heh, other than vcore, those voltages cant possibly be true otherwise you wouldnt be running. If I saw voltage as low as that, I would be measuring with my good VOM. tongue.gif

CPUID hwmonitor strikes again. Try HWinfo64/32 and see if the voltages make more sense. Gigabyte also should have some software for monitoring voltages and temps. And of course, you have the voltage readings in bios.
