FPS drops in BF4.. Video card?

Thread Starter
Specs:

2500k OC @ 4.6
8GB
Single GTX 780

I run BF4 @ 1080 ultra and I will get random spikes in the middle of battle down to 40FPS. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, it is annoying.

So my question is, is it my CPU, GPU or maybe both? I spend $700 on the card I will be annoyed to hear that is the problem!! LOL

The reason I don't think it's my CPU is because it never hits above 90% utilization when running.

I also unparked my cores and it certainly helped, but didn't fix the random FPS spikes.

BF4 just badly optimized?

Open up task manage on another screen. When it spikes immediately see what the CPU usage is on another screen. If u see 90 percent usage then maybe ur most likely experiencing a bottleneck.

It may be a driver issue.

Can you open up GPU-z, switch to the "sensors" tab and get a read on the game using that? Just take a screenshot of that graph shortly after you feel some of those spikes.

Use the perfoverlay.drawgraph 1 command in-game.
I do know one thing, my 4,7 sandy was a heck of a lot more jittery than my brothers stock Ivy. But down to 40 fps seems a bit too dramatic.

I get the same on my sig rig. I've tried all kinds of tweaks, but it still occurs; game is broken and poorly optimized.

Here is the thing I probably should have mentioned... I recently switched back to Windows 7 from Windows 8 and it's been doing this ever since...
