thinking.gif When you say your 7870XT goes over 2gb, does your 2gb 7870XT actually show more than 2000Mb allocated v-ram usage on any application like MSI AB OSD, GPU-Z, EVGA PX e.t.c ? If it does, can you take a screenshot showing that your V-ram usage is above 2000Mb? And can you also take a GPU-z screenshot showing all the stock details about your GPU?

Im actually working on that atm, and I can't replicate the vram going over now in gpuz for some reason doh.gif (unless I enable mantle), before this thread was made I had to lower my effects to high and msaa to 2x in bf4 because my vram would hit 2.15gb when there would be like 3+ explosions and 20+ people on my screen, maybe 5% of the time it would get this stutter, frames would drop to single digits, then fly right back up to 50+ avg.

But now doing some testing today, It wont go over the 2gb like before mad.gif, even with ultra preset and res scale up, and in those crazy situations.

It finally went up to 2.1gb in gulf of oman, ultra preset with 120% res scale, it gave me one single fps drops while riding a buggy into the city, during the sandstorm, then it hasnt happened since.

its very rare that I go over, but it happens.

GPUz 1: shows info

GPUz2: sensor

and the sensors showing the Max vram used, its avg usage was 1500-1900.

Ignore the GPU load, then I was laying down staring at a wall ingame alt tabbed. tongue.gif

What resolution was this?
And how is a 2GB card using 2137 memory? is it swapping around with the system ram too?

1080p.
And I've asked myself the same question, which is why I found this whole thing odd, I thought it was normal that your vram would go over if you push enough it enough.
I don't think its swapping around with system ram? I normally sty around 4gb system ram used when playing.

I can also replicate this on 64P CQ on Gulf of Oman, even just on ultra preset, no 120% res scale. I got up to 2149, when running through massive gunfight between 2 tanks v 1 tank ,1 lav, and 10+ infantry running around on F during the sand storm.
Gave me it a hiccup down to 4fps, then instantly back up to 60.

That is indeed very odd, I've never been able to breach 2048, my memory hardly every hits 2000, I only game at 1080P anyway so that's probably why.

I agree I find it really weird too.

my avg is under 2gb but every once and a while it'll go over, I honestly thought its normal to go over...

would mem bandwidth play a factor? I've wondered if OCing the mem would help in those situations, maybe the info is getting hung up in those crazy situations where things are getting moved around in a split second. I honestly don't know , just guessing at this point.
But very curious about this. tongue.gif

Well I won an Ebay auction for a 1440p Dell UltraSharp last night! I hope my x2 680's will be able to play games at a decent framerate. I'm one of those guys that's happy with 30FPS so I hope I'll be alright

thinking.gif Hmmm.... That could be an anomaly. Does AB also show this? Can you try it with AB and GPU-z simultaneously?

I'd expect 680s at 1440p to perform pretty well, possibly maxing most games out and running them well above 30fps unless they're seriously hardware intensive, isn't dual 680s stronger than a Titan and most likely 780 Ti?(Reference clocks) ignoring that they are single cards and if it scales decently.
Yes they are faster then a Titan and 780 Ti BUT I'm worried about the 2GB limit, I'm happy about winning but scared about performance...lol
