If you haven't played Mass Effect, then I would highly suggest you should. While the last game left me with a slightly sour taste in my mouth, the continuation of the story through the trilogy is quite a treat.

You don't really need to buy all games now do you tongue.gif Buy them as you play them. If you haven't played Dark souls yet then that alone will probably take you +40 hours. Really just buy games when you want something new to play and keep an eye out for sales and grab stuff then.

That said games you should be looking to add to your library.

Bioshock games (yes even 2 though its by far the least interesting)
Deus EX: Human revolution
Witcher 1 & 2
Dishonored
Half life 2 + episodes (really nobody should have steam and not this classic)
Portal 1+2

Someone mentioned point and click games and really once you go that route there is many, many good classics to choice form and the mentioned The Longest Journey is one of if not thee best point & click of all time.

If you're going to buy games I would probably suggest picking up one or two of the suggestions made, and then going crazy when the steam sale comes around. I think it's in August

I'm about to take advantage of that Metro Last Light deal! But is that season pass worth it? Is it extra missions or useless fodder like early access to guns and some multiplayer stuff,

My friend gifted me Sanctum which I was never going to buy for myself, but after playing it with him on co op, Dude, it was the most fun I've had in ages with building and protecting the blue core.

Sanctum/Sanctum 2 are fun to pick up every now and again, but it has absolutely no story. It's just a tower defense game that has an FPS combat mode, think Dungeon Defenders but a sci-fi FPS.

Games from my library that have a good (some of them being better than others obviously) story:

Alice: Madness Returns
AlternativA
Batman: Arkham City
Beyond Good and Evil
Binary Domain
BioShock
BioShock Infinite
Borderlands
Borderlands 2
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
Dark Messiah of Might and Magic
Dark Souls
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Devil May Cry 3
DmC
Dreamfall: The Longest Journey
Fallout 3
Far Cry 3
Final Fantasy VII
Half-Life 2
L.A. Noire
The Last Remnant
Machinarium
Mass Effect
Mass Effect 2
Mass Effect 3 (have to get it through origin)
Mirror's Edge
All the Oddworlds (though they have some serious compatibility issues on new systems)
Portal
Portal 2
Remember Me
Resident Evil Revelations
Septerra Core
Sequence
Skyrim
Sleeping Dogs
South Park the Stick of Truth
Thief (2014)
Thief Gold
Thief 2
Thief: Deadly Shadows
To the Moon
Tomb Raider (2013)
Valdis Story
The Void
The Witcher
The Witcher 2
XCOM: Enemy Within
