GTX570 Dead?

Thread Starter
Just building my new old computer right now and am wondering if my GTX570 is dead, bought it used, never had it running while it's been in my posession and now the time has come for it to go into a computer and it doesn't post?

Blank screen, one long beep three short beeps, when I put in an old 8600GT everything works fine. Is it the PSU that is stopping the GTX570 from powering up? (550w "great wall").

Can anyone shed some light on this?

It would help if you posted your specs on the mobo and PSU so we can tell what the beep codes are. Also, do you another machine to plug it in to? Annnnnd did you plug in the 6/8 pin to the card itself?

ASUS P5K-SE, just checked the manual and it says the beep code is for VGA not detected, I've just relooked at the GPU and it has two ends of the gold pins where it connects to the pci-e slot missing, will upload pics now.

One long beep three short beeps is gpu failing to initialize. It would be worth testing in another PC, but money is on it being dead.

A 570 for $200? How long ago did you get it?

It's meant to have that bit there, I have a working GTX470 and HD7870 on my desk and both have it like that. I've noticed it before myself actually.

I would try doing a BIOS flash to that 570 with a reference one (I'm assuming the card is reference) and trying it then.

Unfortunately off the top of my head I'm unsure if the 570 that you have is reference as I'm not really up to date with the older nVidia stuff. I'll have a look for you though

Probably a year or so ago, prices on PC parts are expensive here in NZ. SUPER expensive. There's still GTX570's selling for around 170~220 at the moment.

How will I go about doing a flash if it doesn't boot up or whatever? Not familiar with flashing a GPU, if you could point me in the right direction would be much appreciated rolleyes.gif
