is there any maintenance you have to do to a xspc raystaorm 750 ex240 liquid cooler ?

I am thinking about buying a xspc raystorm 750 ex240 or a xspc raystorm 750 ex120 liquid cooling kit . I seen a video on you tube on how to install the xspc raystorm 750 series and it looks pretty easy . but I want to know is there any maintenance you have to do on these custom coolers once installed ? and how often do you have to do it ? or is it just like a corsair closed water loop that once it is installed you don't have to do any thing to it ?

Drain coolant, flush the system and refill every 6 months. You may choose to disassemble your waterblocks to inspect for buildup if you suspect any issues. You might also want to change the tubing at this time if it's clouded up and is annoying you.

I did not buy it yet I just wanted to know if there was any maintenance involved . will the xspc raystorm 750 ex240 give me a big improvement in temps over my corsair h100i ?

Will probably shave off a few degrees depending on your overclock/voltage/ambient temps. And is expandable unlike the 100i. For reference, my 4930k @4.5ghz 1.36 volts (1.344 under load) will stay around 70C on the hottest core with the fans on standard maxing out around 1800rpms with ambients around 21C while using an h100i + stock fans in push configuration while using Linx/OCCT and max memory.

Take a gander at http://martinsliquidlab.org/2013/02/16/xspc-raystorm-750-rs240-extreme-universal-cpu-water-cooling-kit/ He does a lot of reviews of water cooling products and I always find good information on the products for reading his review.

The big part about the kit is expandability.

if you only plan to ever cool your cpu with a liquid I say stay with the H100.

If you were to eventually/continually upgrade your starter kit to include more radspace for cooler temps, add in GPU/mobo blocks as well as other aesthetic parts too then yes, far worth it over a little h100. thumb.gif

Edit: Be careful what you get yourself into. rads and fans and cases to fit more rads and blocks and tubes and liquids, have run me just a tad under $1000 total so far.

The kit, is like a starter kit. There are people who run with just the kit for the duration, but I have always felt it is a waste to do so when the H100 is so much cheaper.

Oh and, get a reputable colored tubing instead of using the stock tubing. thumb.gif
