And subjective topic is subjective. What may work for you may not work for someone else.

Laser is inherently inferior and that is not a subjective opinion, UNLESS you need the extra customizability in some cases in terms of DPI settings, etc. But if only the shape of a mouse that isn't offered with an optical works for the person, go for it.

Obviously the surface also matters, that's a different topic in itself.

What about the lens design? The firmware ? The drivers ? Saying that a mice is better only because it's optical is a misconception. But at the end of the day it doesnt matter because the majority of the consumer (me included) will never notice the flaws.

I've owned a fair amount of optical mice (Kinzu v2, deathadder, Savu, G400, MX518 etc) and TBH I cant notice the difference between any of those mice and any other 9800 based mice.

I can notice prediction and jitter quite easily but the +-5% of positive acceleration, I cant. And that's from someone who play mostly at 800 CDPI.
