Toshiba L300 Gray Screen From Power On?

Thread Starter
Hi,

When I press the power button on the laptop, all I get is a gray screen, so I cannot see the BIOS nor booting into windows, I have tried using a VGA cable and this works and I can see the laptop boot into windows, because of this I thought it was the screen that had broke, so I replaced the screen with a new one and I still get the same problem. There are 2 sticks of RAM in so I took one out and kept the other in too see if it were some sort of strange RAM problem, and with only having one piece of RAM in and trying both pieces of RAM in one at a time, I still only get a gray screen from power on. I have also tried removing the battery and power cable, and holding down the power button for 60 seconds, then putting in the power cable again, but this did not work either frown.gif
Any ideas as to what could be causing the problem?

Thanks,

Title of thread says Toshiba L300.
OP said he got image on external screen.
That excludes everything except LCD cable. inverter, screen and the connections.
Screen got replaced.
