The ADNS-9800 is simply an "improved" ADNS-9500 based on exactly the same tracking technology, and the Taipan uses the ADNS-9818 which is just a Razer-specific model name for the 9800 combined with the optical sensor on the bottom which really doesn't do anything helpful anyway. Trust me the MM400 will work really well.

I'm sorry, I meant that for the person who was talking about the shiden-kai. I am mainly just excluding the MM400 because of it's size, again- I am a low dpi gamer and I like my space :3

I too have the same problem. While it would be nice to have a large hard mousepad, they don't really exist since the QPAD Heaton went out of production.

And at 70cm/360 nothing smaller than a Talent works for me now.

Well, if all of the hard pads are so small, why are laser mice so common if they don't work with cloth pads?

Because hardly anyone uses sensitivities greater than 10cm/360 when they don't know what they're doing. Also, the populus generally thinks that the more CPI, the better a mouse is.

I just saw this review of a mousepad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jr6bHQFU7pY
The Steelseries 5L. I think I found the one. It has the right dimensions and all, and a plastic coating.
Now what I really want to know is: Since it has a plastic coating, wouldn't it work with laser mice? Also, this reminds me of the Shiden Kai which has a glass coating on top of a cloth pad. Would either the Shiden Kai or the Steelseries 5l work with a laser mouse? I would be willing to get either one if they work.

The 5L was discontinued. You can still find them out in the wild, but they won't be around for long.

Nvm it will probably be too hard to find.

It should work just fine. It's just a hard pad over a soft bottom. The mouse won't sink into the pad like with soft cloth pads.
