Thread Starter
Hey ,
I am just starting to OC ( 1 month) and I reaches a maximum on my 4100 fx ( good Proco once OC ) 4.6 Ghz Stable .
But I aim a little crazy to reach the 5 Ghz 24/7 ( not 4.8 clenched bad either ^ ^) .
So if someone an idea how to go higher , I post pictures of my BIOS + config .
Thank you in advance for reasons that will help me

experience:

Pentium 4 ( 3 to 3.8)
i3 - 540 ( 3.1 to 4.1 )

config:

ASRock 990FX Extreme 3 -
FX - Ghz 4100@4.6
Artic - Ventirad " Freezer 13 "
-4 GB Ballistix 1600
-4 GB kingston value 1600
- GTX 660 OC
Corsair CX - 750W
Kingston -SSD 120GB
-HDD 500GB

Your pictures are to small to see without actually loading them. And don't use a flash. It just overexposes them.

You posted a link to your photo sharing service. That's to small to actually see:

Post links to your pictures instead. Here's a link to your picture:

The easier you can make it for people to help you the more help you'll get.

As for your overclock:
What is failing? CPU? Memory? Overheating?
4.7 is pretty much the limit for a 4100. Adding more cooling may help, it that''s why your OC is failing.

Thx for reply,

I didn't saw that pics were so small rolleyes.gif
The cooling is not the problem cause even with "cool and quiet" disabled, Vcore and frequency turn down at 60C°until temp is reduce to 52-53C° on OCCT burn.
Just during buning test, in real utilisation, temps goes to 62C° max on Crysis3 (who push my CPU to the limits) with Vcore and frequence not turning down.

I don't know what fail at 4.7, i've tried a lot of things but nothing work (push CPU NB voltage, RAM voltage, NB voltage, balance multi/FSB)

The vrm heatsink on that board looks smallish compared to other 990 boards. Touch it while running prime to see how hot it gets. Try putting a fan blowing on it.

Vrm is the heatsink bellow the CPU?
If it's that....i think i can easily cook eggs on it while burning biggrin.gif
Is it create instability?

The vrm heatsink is to the left of the cpu, looking at the mobo head on. The heatsink below the cpu is the north bridge heatsink. If either of those two get too hot, it will cause instability. Stick some fans in the area.

Must i change my RAM timing? ( i dont know how to)

-4 GB kingston value 1600

You have 2 different sticks, which could cause instability issues.

In bios, you set your dram timings in your OC Tweaker Screen.

Shut off the computer and take out the sticks. There should be a small label on the sticks with the recommended timings, voltages and speed. Youll want to set your timings in bios to the loosest and slowest speed of the two sticks.

10-10-10-30 is looser than 9-9-9-24.

Post those timings, speed and voltages here, and I'll figure out what you should set for tRC. Those five settings (and voltage) are all that you need to change, the rest leave on auto.

For the RAM:

Easier to just download CPU-Z and compare the Memory column (What the memory is actually at) and the SPD column (The memory specs).
Do that for each stick!
