Two problems with my computer; maybe related ? Problem with HDD and when power on

Hi everybody,

I have several problems since tuesday.

My configuration : A computer with 4 HDD
- 2 WDC (WD5002ABYS)in RAID0 for the System partition
- 2 Seagate (ST31000340AS) in RAID1 for Data.

1. Tuesday, my computer didn't want to boot anymore; after some research I found that is was because the RAID configuration was no more configuration on my BIOS. (it was configured to boot on IDE and not RAID anymore). So I changed this configuration and my computer was booting again.

2. The next day morning, when I tried to power on my computer, I heard the fan of my power supply beginning to start then stopped after few seconds; and then start again and stopped, etc... I waited 10 minutes and power on again my computer and it worked. The computer then worked correctly during the whole day (even after reboot).

3. Then, the same day, my computer was slow, not so much but much more than habitually. After rebooting, it was quite fixed.

Because of point 2, I think it would be a power supply problem but having problem "1" and "3" at the same time is quite strange...

Someone can help me to find where is the problem please ?

Thanks everybody smile.gif

If it were me i would try get hold of a new power supply and do a health check on your drives as they might be failing use this to check http://www.hdtune.com/

Thank you for your answer.

I will see about the power supply thanks.

About HD Tune (5.5, trial version), when I go to the "Health" tab, there is no disk listed at all. I can see the "Intel Raid 0" and "Intel Raid 1" configuration I have done but nothing else. (Maybe because I am using it from Windows 2012 ?

If you guys have some other suggestions, let me know ! =)
Thank you

But in that case, why I have lost the RAID configuration on the Bios (or why my computer was running slowly ? )
For me that was because of a problem with the raid controller or the HDD.

Because of the point 2, I think too that is a power supply issue but very strange because of the other points; no ?

No problem and you can try speedfan it will detect internal hdd's and read their smart info so try that http://almico.com/speedfan.php

Yes I have tried Speedfan; and except that it founds that my HDD were hot (around 59-60°C), it shows that the "current pending sector count" is set to 00000000002 on one of my WDC HDD). I dont know if it can be related to my issues

Hi,

if it can help to troubleshoot the issue, here is what happens yesterday.

Yesterday morning I managed to start my computer but after 2-3 hours of use, the computer has shutdown and reboot with no reason. During the reboot, 2 or 3 minutes after, the computer has shutdown and reboot again; and 2 minutes after, again.

So, I completely shut down the computer for the day.

This issue can be a power supply issue ? motherboard ? anything else ?

Thank you
