I'm not sure how it could possibly be - there are 44/48 more pins.

Any word on benchmarks for haswell-e or DDR4? Or can anyone make a guess as to the performance? How about estimated longevity of the x99 board?

I ask because I have been kicking myself for a few years after buying my i7 930 on the 1366 which was only there for that generation, making it much more expensive to upgrade CPUs.

Use current Haswell benchmarks, multiply multithreaded scores by 1.5 or decrease times by 33%, as appropriate, keep singlethreaded scores/times the same, and you'll have 6-core Haswell-E. 8 core, multiply by 2 or decrease by 50%. DDR4 will be approximately as fast as current DDR3 2133 10 CAS.

The i7 920/930 platform is one of the best platforms at the time in terms of longevity, living on through SB and IB, and for many owners, will live on through Haswell and Broadwell. The 930 wasn't that far off from the 965 and 975 EEs, and had the option of upgrading to 6-core 970 for about $600-650 (don't remember what actual prices were).

That 980x is still sooo damn good.
