Low fps with bf4

Thread Starter
HI, I have a r9 290 and Im getting low fps in bf4. Im playing online and in some maps im getting like 80-90 fps. This is with nothing maxed out and everything on medium/high. And its weird b/c nothing changes when I set the settings even lower. The fps just stays the same.. why is this happening? I downloaded the beta drivers but nothing changed.

Really would like some help, thanks

Thats because your CPU is dictating your min fps that you would be dropping to.

what CPU do you have?

So just curious, since 80-90fps is hardly low, where are you seeing lowered performance? CPU is the hold back on line with a 290, doesn't matter which cpu it is. Also, is this mantle or dx11?

its weird. Some parts itll spike uop to like 200, maybe 140, but generally it averages out in the 80-90 mark no matter what I do. I assumed a i5 4670k w/ r9 290 would be able to max everything out.. Saw a vid on the difference between windows 7/8 for bf4 and the guy in the vid said he was getting 140 fps. Its low for me b/c I wanted to try out the lightboost app and I need to maintain at least 120 fps.

And how is the cpu holding me back? I thought there wouldnt be any issues with a 4670k..

tthanks

i think you got BF4 confused with BF3. those numbers may be possible with BF3 (you still have to settle for lower settings) but not a chance in BF4, especially MP. two highend gpus might work with mantle to relieve any sign of cpu bottleneck.

BF4 is heavy and in this case the minimum fps is really what counts.2cents.gif

You're CPU bound. Try CPU overclocking and Mantle.

what am I supposed to be averaging? also is there a way to increase minimum fps?
