it would help to give us more info about the rest of your rig. look at the upper right corner of this page you'll see the Rigbuilder link.

info about your resolution and what is your goal as far as fps. you mentioned about lightboost and i have no idea what that is but others might be able to chime in.

i only use 1080 60Hz and i don't bother measuring my fps with a 290 'cause even my old 7950 can max the game at my rez. what matters is that the gameplay is smooth. DX11, i oc my i7 to 4.5. with mantle i can turn HT off and put the chip to stock.

Your performance is normal for dx11. Mantle should take it way up - you're not using it?

And how is the cpu holding me back? I thought there wouldnt be any issues with a 4670k..

Bf4 is quite weirdly coded in that no CPU on the planet can get close to holding frames above 120fps with dx11. Even if the FPS meter never drops below 120, you have a lot of frames slower enough to notably microstutter and degrade strobe motion quality. Mantle is a somewhat miracle fix for that, it can double fps in cases like this, especially more the less GPU bound you are.

16 gb of ram, windows 8, 1980 x 1080p

lightboost is a program that is supposed to mimic a crt i think. I havent tried it yet but you need to maintain 120 fps for it to work.

i just want my set up to reach 120 fps

honestly your frames sound spot on for your cpu, OCing could help for when hitting your min fps.

i know your trying to try out lightboost but I find threads like these comical "I cant run this game, but I'm at 90fps" tongue.gif
reminds me when I played WoW with a max of 20 if i was lucky, and listened to every say "OMG 60FPS IS SOOOO BAD"

To be honest motion clarity is pretty much ruined if you're at 80fps average with 5-10% of frames being slower than ~60fps and you're strobing 120hz tongue.gif

most fps can be taken to 120fps, if you're playing on low settings with an r9 290. Bf4 is somewhat of an exception because of api problems and how cpu heavy it is

i'l say again though: mantle mantle mantle!! Try it!

*cough* sig *cough*

Im not using mantle. Just read about it and apparently I need windows 64 bit? is there any support for windows 8 32 bit? really frustrating frown.gif

1080 120Hz? well mantle ain't perfect but it works. i recommend 14.2 and mantle. you will still have to oc your cpu and lower your settings with a single 290. like i said, i never measured my fps but i would assume you would still need 2 highend gpus to maintain close to 120 fps minimum without sacrificing much eyecandy.

yikes, 32 bit and you have 16GB?

thank you for this info. Is there anyway to get mantle to work on 32 bit? thanks

Ah man you're pretty screwed without it, bf4 just doesn't perform so well for those seeking >60hz or the particularly microstutter sensitive

32 bit windows, ouchies - think you're just out of luck. Can't you switch to 64 on the same code?
