I am confused on what to do redface.gif

Someone is offering a 7950 for $200 and I am wonder if I should xfire it or sell my 7970 and keep 7950.

What is the performance like for 7970 + 7950?

Please advise.

i think it would be like CF-ing 2x 7950 , cause the 7970 will downclock to match the 7950 , though im not sure , wink.gif
Edit : here is a thread where it's already discussed :

i wouldn't crossfire is problematic , but if u need to update , u can sell your 7970 , and get a 290 or a 290x smile.gif

far as I've read it shouldn't be an issue it would just match them both as 7950s.

I wont be touching an r9 290 or 290x until they are back to msrp.

I wonder if I could trade the 7970 + 7950 for an r9 290 headscratch.gif

At 200 bucks that's actually a good deal with this mining craze going on, so i'd crossfire them

Would be faster than any 290 or 290x

There is no "matching", each card will run at its own clocks (both for GPU and VRAM). Their performance is pretty decent, definitely better than 780/290 and probably somewhere between 290X and 780ti.

I've been crossfiring my 7970+7950 ever since i got em out the box, and the performance is definitely there. For $200 is a pretty nice price, and if you don't plan to get a 290/290x anytime soon you should take that jump.

Having a 7970 with a 7950 in crossfire mode would be 20-15% worse vs a 7970 cfx non ghz
