[Completed] Non-working Alienware m18x R1

Thread Starter
Hey everyone,

I am currently working to sell an Alienware m18x R1 that I recently soaked in Red Bull and effectively killed. I am really having a hard time determining what a fair price for this "parts only" system is.

Thread detailing what happened:
http://www.overclock.net/t/1473007/a-sad-day-indeed/130#post_21957328

System Specs:

Part: AM18X-6731BAA
Core i7 2630QM (2.0GHz - 2.9GHz Turbo)
Dual 1.5GB Nvidia GTX 460M in SLI
8GB Memory
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
**No HDD or SSD**

The screen and chassis are in excellent condition. The liquid was isolated to the motherboard but I don't have a way to test what works and what doesn't so please bear that in mind.

Thank you!

EDIT: Just sold!

This is a tough one...especially considering its broken and not exactly...high-end...

I would START asking at $600-700 on eBay...there are people on there ALL THE TIME looking for stuff they can repair. I guarantee you it would sell at $600 pretty darn quickly so I'd start there and work my way up.

A working one would sell that much.

Keep in mind this is the R1 and most of the ones you see on eBay nowadays are the R2's. The processor and video cards on my R1 were on the lower end of the spectrum in their day and easily dated by those that came with 5 and 6-series video cards.

I felt that a good-condition, ready to rock example of what I had would fetch $1000-1100. There is one on there right now with a better CPU and HDD/SDD (remember mind comes with none) plus double the memory which is not getting the $1279 being asked for it.

Then factor in the fact my motherboard was certainly dead; a part costing somewhere in the $475 range.

Last, factor in the fact that the motherboard may not be the only thing dead inside the system. I had no way to test the other components and had to sell it as such. The buyer may find that they just bought themselves a nice chassis and a working power brick.

All things considered I landed on $475
