[Official] Kaveri Overclock Guide... in progress - Page 3

Does anyone have some power usage statistics for the 7850k vs say a 4670k at similar clocks? I'm thinking about selling my Intel board and CPU and moving the Kaveri into my main rig as I don't use the HTPC at all. If I can get around the same 4.2ghz without pushing the PSU too hard I might do it (450W isn't a lot for a build with 3 drives and a R9 290).

Well I got my little brother's Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H A10-7850K setup running at 40 multi, 2000mhz NB, 960mhz iGPU, and 2400 11-13-12-27 2T 1.65v (stock was 2133 11-11-11-27 2T 1.5v) with all voltages on auto (except memory) and no adjustments to llc and whatnot. I literally just changed the above settings and nothing else. Tested overnight prime and hci memtest stable. Never goes over 45* with a hyper tx3 cooler. I'm not going to push for more because I want this to be a solid, stable, long lasting build for my little brother.

I'm really impressed I got all this out of it without having to change any advanced settings or voltages.

Well my system @4.4 is around 55w and prime95 load is 170w but that's with a 260X. @ 4.2 with onboard I had around 110w at the wall the difference wont be too much to worry about.

I went ahead and swapped it out, after some overheating problems (knocked the Phenom II HSF I was using loose by accident) I have it at 4.0ghz with 2000mhz NB and 16GB at 2133. Everything seems fine, max temp around 45*C with corsair H40 and Prime95.

Well you should be able to hit 4.4 easily, BUT that cooler isn't much better than the stock cooler so you will have to monitor your temps very closely or get a different cooler.

Follow the guide and post any differences in your bios.

@rebelextrm02 I saw your entry. Why are your temps so high with a low clock?

45 max isn't so bad maybe hes in a warm area or bad case. I know mine might get to 45 during stress testing but that's it and its around 55-60f in my house.

Which cooler would you recommend for my system?
Why do you think that the kozuti is just like the stock cooler? I read good reviews about the kozuti. Just wondering.

That 80* some odd temp is the package temp. CPU temp is only 45* on p95 load. It reads 45* for the cpu through HWINFO, GPUZ, and Easy Tune. I validated while running p95 in the background. At idle the temps are so low they start jumping all over the place from 1* to 20* due to AMD's wonderful temp sensors.
