but it's a product with a TDP 95 watts .... it's hot .... and you want to OC again ?

i thinked to take a apu with a TDP 65watts .... it's better no ?

For a 95 watt tdp chip, it really wouldn't run too hot with the iGPU, as long as you ran a non stock cooler on it. There are pretty decent ones out there for not too much money.

I say it this way as I do not use my iGPU, so I don't know what temps look like with it enabled.

My A10-7700k (TDP 95W) heavily overclocked to 4.7 ghz w/ 1028 mhz GPU and 2100 mhz NB tops out at maybe 47-48C CPU temperature as reported by the BIOS and SpeedFan under the heaviest loads that I can throw at it. Not real-world stuff, that's stress-testing and the like.
so for you the a8-7800 is not a good choice
post #284 of 335
It would be if these crazy-arsed A88x boards had halfway-decent bclk-based overclocking. But when they started integrating things like the SATA, PCIe, and USB controllers onto the die, they forgot to implement simple bus locks, making such overclocking rather difficult.

edit: or maybe they didn't forget . . . it just wasn't worth it to them to include a feature that would undercut sales of their unlocked k parts.

do you try to OC the a10-7800 ?

i think it's not oc possibility , not ?

Overclocking is possible on any CPU. However with the non-k you've got to play with the bus and limit on the multiplier. Usually the limit is at the threshold of the turbo. So it's harder to do, but not impossible.

I have not attempted to overclock a locked Kaveri chip such as the A10-7800. I did do some experimentation with bclk overclocking on my A10-7700k, and found it to be . . . difficult, to say the least. Not all boards are good for a bclk above 104 mhz, and many are not. On top of that, it's difficult to stabilize the system unless you find specific bclk ranges where everything seems to be happy. For example, with my board+CPU, 95-104 and 110-119 seem okay-ish. Mostly. Anything higher than 119mhz bclk, and the PCIe SATA controller I use stops working. I've tried it without the PCIe SATA controller (which I got to avoid the problems of the onchip SATA controller running wayyy out of spec) and there are other problems, such as the iGPU cutting out past 119-120mhz bclk.

Also, my particular chip does not like elevated NB speeds when running bclk out of spec, which is odd. 2100 mhz NB is stable @ 100mhz bclk, but anything over 1900mhz NB is extraordinarily difficult at a bclk above 100 mhz.

Now if this board had a supported DDR3-2666 setting, I could probably do some awesome stuff UNDERclocking the bclk, but alas, it does not.

good experience , i beleive the apu function better with frequency important (2400/2600...

i see a mainboard amd up to 3100 mhz !

My 3Dmark score ( Cloud Gate ) when running Hybrid crossfire with a R7 250:

11726

http://www.3dmark.com/cg/1779895

More than pleased with the results for such a lowbudget CPU and dGPU.

7850K @ 4.9Ghz (Vcore - 1.55)
Memore @ 2400Mhz CL9
NB @ 2400Mhz (NB voltage - 1.50)

IGPU and dGPU overclocked to 1100Mhz on the core and 1200Mhz on memory.

These settings were also BF4 stable.

And yes, that was on a Phase Change system tongue.gif

To be honest, Kaveri is prob. one is the funniest thing I had the pleasure to play with in a long long time - Intel gone so incredible dull, and having to balance the CPU, dGPU and iGPU is great fun - Especially when everything works together and starts flexing thumb.gif
