If you look at the default P-States for the A10-7850K below you will see the kind of CPU Voltages you need to set to get above Turbo P-States.

Note that once you start raising APU frequency you affect all the other operating frequencies controlled by the APU. This link has an APU overclocking guide which may be of help.

A10-7850K Stock P-states

Hi Himo5, those P-states are exactly what I get when firing up CPUZ for measurement (& bios @ defaults)

So from what your saying because I am undervolting the CPU Vcore, that's the reason for the lockups in prime95? OK, no problem, its too easy to fix. Obviously a different beast to my FX cpu then. Thanks for the advice. smile.gif

Solohuman, what Prime95 settings are you using? Try a custom stress test with:

768k min and max FFT size
In-place FFTs

It's pretty rough.

Hi drmlordx, I typically use blend test @ default settings. From what I've seen around overclocking forums, this seems to be what a lot are using for initial stability testing. Also, I use IBT-AVX for 10 runs @ standard as well, but I'll give those recommendations for another prime95 test a go. Thanks for the help.

For the record, here is what I achieved at a measly 1.225 Vcore @ 4.00GHz in prime95... disregard the 'package temperature' in CPUID HWmonitor, its a bit suspect imo.. Asus AI suite III shows same temp for cpu as HWmonitor anyway.

1.225v for 4 GHz is pretty good. Your chip seems to be doing just fine.

Here we go at 4.1GHz in prime95 blend for 1 hr.

... and IBT-AVX @ 4.2Ghz, 10 runs @ standard.

Not going to try 4.2GHz or higher in prime95 until I upgrade the cpu air cooler. currently its only using a budget aftermarket one. I've been deliberately keeping the ram speeds down because I'm only concerned with finding cpu OC peak atm..

If that's the Auto setting it answers my question on the other thread: the Crossblade Ranger sets a different Auto setting for the iGpu - 917MHz instead of 866MHz on the A88xPro and elsewhere, but only for the A10-7870K.

It also raises the upper limit for iGpu overclocks: from 1733MHz to 1950MHz on the A10-7870K; from 1600MHz to 1800MHz on the A10-7850K; and from 1688MHz to 1900MHz on the A10-6800K - but I doubt if anyone will ever reach those exalted heights.
