I have a Creative X-Fi Surround 5.1 USB that works VERY well.

It really depends on your uses though. If you need optical and 5.1 output then what I recommended above is perfect. However, if you are planning on using just headphones the something like a headphone amp with a built in USB DAC would work as well. The FiiO E9 /E09K is a perfect example of this.

So...what are your intended uses? Each option above will go for $100 USD (~60 GBP) so you're good money wise.

To make things simple, if you are into gaming and want sound processing features then go for the U7, or the X-FI HD.

Something for music listening: Fiio E7.

question about fiio, would i be able to connect it to my mobile phone and amplify music going out from it? i know it got usb port and my phone got miniusb so i would connect it thru the adapters. e7 also got something like battery that allows it for few hours of working so if it will work i will go for fiio, if not then xonar or xfi
