Getting Audio Through 290 HDMI Port To Receiver, Rampage Black Edition Mobo Causing Problem?

Ok, so I am trying my darnedest to get HDMI audio to my receiver from my R9 290 video card. However, I cannot find the HDMI option in the 'Playback Devices'. Any time that I plug in the HDMI cord to the 290, it treats it like a monitor, I have gotten it to show up and all, but then if I restart, the card DEFAULTS to the receiver being the #1 monitor!
I'm wondering if it is because the 'fancy' onboard sound from my Asus Rampage Black Edition is throwing a fudge in the mix, as it offers (2) optical outs, and all sorts of aux outs... So it's not showing the AMD out option...?

It's a huge pain in the butt, and I would appreciate any help anyone can offer!

Found an optical cable, am using that off the mobo.. Works!

Turn off on board audio in BIOS just to be safe, but it is far more likely to be the card than the board. Before MSI swapped my 7970LTG's for 680LTG's (the former were killed by EK blocks w manufacturing defects), they were a nightmare to get working 100pct with my Pioneer SC-79. It was a combination of things, including the driver, and the issue persisted across my RIVE/3930K system, 3770K/UP7 rig, 2x 8c/16t Xeon server, and half a dozen other systems I tried them in. The only common factor was the cards.

I have had a number of friends have issues with AMD cards and HDMI audio just this last 12mo, so I am going with my own (numerous) similar results...

It was driver issues in the one instance that I was able to get working completely, no idea about the others.

Oh man, sounds like whipping out that optical cable was the best thing I've done in awhile, then.... Thanks for the input!

Jeeze, the SC-79 must be some receiver! How do you like it? I have a VSX-1020k, that I am debating upgrading, if/when I go for a Klipsch reference setup...
