How to get CPU load data - Page 2

Oh as far as a playing a game under high load it shouldn't be a problem!

EDIT: as long as your temps are good, then it should be fine!

yup my max gpu temp is 69 C

and my CPU temps are 66 C
(everything is a stock)

i generally dont like things under high stress. (which is why the 99% GPU load is scaring me)

i am trying to get a lot of data on stock GPU before i try (my first ever) OC on my GPU..

That sounds like perfectly normal temps! Example: the max safe temp for the 290/290x is 95C!

Forgive me I'm using the mobile site and I can't see your sig rig, but from what I can see that's perfectly normal! Keeping the temps low will obviously give you overclocking headroom, and will have the added benefit of giving longer life to your components.

My advice, is relax! Adjust the settings till you get a playable experience and enjoy! Haha think about this, and hopefully it'll make you feel better, look at the cooling on gaming laptops! That crap runs HOT! Your desktop should be fine especially if you haven't overclocked!

99% load is good in your case, it means your graphics card is being fully used, and there is no CPU bottleneck. Ghosts isn't really a great way to test GPU performance, though. Your temps are fine, currently my cooling isn't great for my top GPU and it often reaches 90C+ during gaming sessions. You will be fine.

@ultraman ty for the help +1 biggrin.gif

@sidewaykill, yeah im kind of limited in the games i can use to run benchmarks. I just used SC2 to run CPU benches, but as for GPU benchmarks, i have no good games to use to bench.
but whats worrying me about that 99% load is that my average load on the gpu was only 60%, and also, i didnt max out the game. (which i will now do in about 30 min or so, im taking a break atm biggrin.gif)

so in general, playing a game with constant 99% gpu OR cpu load isnt a bad thing? because this just sounds like im putting constant long stress on hardware. (kinda like making the heart rate stay high for long periods of time, which will obv cuase death to the person tongue.gif)
(i know that if the average gpu/cpu load is in the 99-100% load that its indicating bottleneck)

Thanks! Just trying to give back!

And temps and voltage is what will kill your hardware! The worst thing that might happen if your temps and voltage is fine, is instability; hence the reason why xeons CPUs, quadros and tesla gpus were made, to be rated to be stable for 100% load under very extended periods.

Since you are already cautious, and you obviously won't be gaming at 99% percent load 24/7 you will be fine! smile.gif

Trust me, I took out a fan blowing on my crossfire setup because it only got to mid 60s under gaming and the extra dust and noise wasn't worth it smile.gif

Don't be scared, it's normal your GPU is at 100%

You can look at it 2 ways:

1) The way you look at it

2) Even if the data to be calculated is just a small 1MB, the GPU can do it @ 100% --> so it's calculated fast. Or it can calculate it @ 5% --> so it will take longer.

But in the end it just calculated that 1MB.

Same goes for Zillions of trillions of Millions of lots of bytes wink.gif

For comparising:

You can drive a car with 4.000rpm in 1st gear --> so you drive slow

Or you can drive a car with the same 4.000rpm in 5th gear --> and you'll drive a bit faster wink.gif

Oh, yeah Ghosts is really CPU bottlenecked because it is such a badly optimised game.

Yeah playing the demo I was suprised how much cpu it used just to load maps! Like dude planetside 2 has a crap ton more going on when you play! Like explosions and a crap ton of people and Ghosts still used more cpu than that game.

After an hour and hearing the same sound effects from Cod 4 like the stupid grenade sound and seeing the same stupid ragdoll effect I was done tongue.gif

Sorry for crapping on Ghosts.... They really just made that game for consoles, and casuals...
