^^^ The GTX 680 was released 2 years ago, and has a relatively small die. $380 for a rebranded 680 on a fancy PCB is still too much.

It's the same GPU, with a mild core clock boost and a much higher memory clock boost (with voltages and TDP upped to compensate. Calling it a rebrand is fair tbh, just like calling the 280X a 7970 rebrand.

There really isn't much different between the two cards - SPs, TUs, ROPs are all the same.

I was about to post about how you could get that much card for less four months ago until I notice this was a 4GB model upsidedwnsmiley.gif. I guess those are usually rarer and a bit pricier.

680 and 770 use different memory. They didnt pull a 480 > 570

TBH, IMO that's not enough of a difference. Perhaps we view rebrands differently. From my perspective the cards are effectively the same - memory alone (with the corresponding TDP increase, voltage increases, and slight corespeed bumps) isn't enough of a difference to call it something new or modified. If it's fair to call a 7970GE a "faster" 7970 (the memory chips and speed there are different), and it's fair to call the 280X a 7970 GE, then it's fair to do the same here. And don't forget - 7-10% increase will net you what - at most 3 fps above the 30 fps you're getting (if you're getting 30fps. Maybe some might see that without a framecounter but I know I can't and even with a framecounter that's not going to make a difference in my gameplay. I don't deny that the 770 is faster, but IMO it's not substantially different to a 680. You're right on the memory count, but the GPU is the same.
