$400 Budget Laptop

Thread Starter
Hi all,

My sister is planning to get a new laptop I have no idea what to recommend so I turn to you all as I have not bought a laptop in 5 years so I'm sure a lot has changed.

Primary uses in order:

Netflix
Office
Internet
Music
Movies

Size/weight is a factor but were not looking for blade/MBP form factor, just if we can smaller is better and 15". I wanted to look at lenovo for her as they normally have good build quality and for her that is important as she normally doesn't last long with laptops.

Lenovo's laptop is definitely good.
Try and check out their Outlets. They always have a lot of cheap laptops over there.

Here, I found a really good one.

http://outlet.lenovo.com/outlet_us/itemdetails/CB27883473-59RF0401/445

It is faster than other laptops that has Intel Pentium, Celeron, AMD E1 and AMD A8.
As for i3, I am not sure about it, but it won't matter because AMD A10 is definitely good for your sister.

She can play games if need it with that powerful APU and also can multitask with that quad core CPU.

The Intel® Core™ i3-3120M has NO advantages compare to AMD A10 - 5750M.
No point of going after i3 if A10 is faster, has more cores and cheaper than i3 I believe if we are still talking about the "outlet" from Lenovo.

I pointed her towards that, and Also found the comparable I3 version at bestbuy if she didn't want to order online. She will never play a game ever so I'm not too worried about the i3 version.

Or you can go on eBay and buy Refurbish Surface Pro 64gb for $399 if it is still on sale.
Surface Pro probably beat both the laptop and asus t100 by performance.

Surface Pro has 10" screen, 1920x1080, 4gb ram and Ivy bridge i5.
She can hook the tablet to a tv or monitor and have two monitor.

Go to YouTube and search Surface 2 Tips and Tricks by Sean something.
Even though Surface 2 is different, however, he shows off an awesome features that both Surface 2 and Surface Pro can do.
