The standard cable tuner cards that work with non-satellite services, like the Ceton Infinitv cards, integrate with WMC almost seamlessly. The only thing they lack is the Video-on-Demand options.

As far as remote go, I've got this one

Remarkably it has worked with every OS I have, Win7, Win8, OSX, and Ubtuntu. It works best with Windows based systems since the shortcut buttons are programmed for Windows. But it's cheap and works.

Thanks! I guess I worded that wrong. I was only wanting to capture video not actually control the channels with the card. I just thought they were called tuner cards. I guess it would be a video capture card that I need. But I would want one with HDMI and I'm having a hard time finding it.

I'm guessing you're looking for something like this then?

AverMedia HD DVR card.

It should work with any mce remote really, mines worked out the box with some rosewill remote I got off newegg for $3 (had a 10 coupon and it was on sell at the time biggrin.gif). Though I would eventually toss the remote and buy a harmony 650, once I ran the setup on the harmony website it works well too.

In addition what you can do is use eventghost and use any ir remote of your choosing, though it takes a bit of work to set up initially, I was able to get a $10 universal remote from Walmart to work before I bought the harmony. It works ok, but I had a problem with it repeating commands (for instance you press right once it will go right twice...though it didn't always do this though), not sure if it was just the remote or maybe I missed some settings in eventghost, either way I just bought a harmony because I found it for $48 new on ebay.

edit:
Reading up I see you mentioned the rrc 126 which is the one I bought for $3, the remote works ok, but at times (not always) when it comes out of hibernation it seems to stop communicating with the receiver, also the range is questionable, definitely not $22 worth if you were thinking about getting it.
