case for 290 crossfire

Thread Starter
Hi guys, I am currently in dilemma over the case I should be getting for my 2x290 windforce crossfire. I was looking at corsair air carbide 540, but I hope you guys can give me some suggestions too.

I have no water cooling in this case, only air cooling (no future water cooling in plan). CPU cooler is NH D14. I think side fan is preferable due to the heat produced by 2x290. I do not mind noise at all. I only want pure performance.

TIA guys!

EDIT: price should be in the range of air carbide 540. thanks

I have the corsair vengance c70, and if you are air cooling this case is pretty good!
for cards like that you want to be able to remove the hot air, especially non reference windforce design.
yeah the 2x140s on the top, 2x 120s in the front thats dust filtered, 2x 120 or 140s on the bottom, 1x 120 on the top, and 1x 120 on the drive cage (if you remove the bottom one like i did) AAAAND the 2x 120s on the side panel smile.gif

haha yeah thats a lot of fans, since you said you didnt give a flip about noise thumb.gif

thanks man. I read this review on this case: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5834/corsair-vengeance-c70-case-review-going-for-the-gamers/6

it seems that it doesnt do that well. I do not really mind if the case has no handles so not really a bonus point for me. But I will look more on reviews in the meantime. Thanks!

the reviews are for the stock config, which frankly sucks! theres no intake fans! like who thought of that?! the only fans are the 2 mounted on the drive cages and the one exhaust!
hop over to the c70 thread and theyll tell you the same thing, pop a few fans here and there and its great for air cooling, its compatible with every and yes i mean every CLC you can find.

i have 2 140s sucking air out, my h50 with corsair sp 120s push pull exhausting and fans on the bottom and front intaking and i have a crossfire setup with 7850 that use non reference fan coolers and the temps are always low!

i read those same reviews before i bought it, and it came down to the fact that i could have a ton of options and it still was a clean looking case, and with one drive cage it has support for 10 fans! haha

and there is also the Rosewill thor v2, haha that has support for a million fans haha

hmm interesting case this c70. you mean that it can have 4 intake in front? 2 attached to the hdd tray and 2 more nearer to the front panel?

Yes! And There's a dust filter on the front panel as well. The options are 1 140mm or 2 120mm or if you drill holes you can put 2 140mm in the front.

The drive cage is restrictive though, so I really would suggest removing one, they come off with a couple of thumb screws, then you can get unrestricted air coming from one of the fans on the front, and the other one is doing push pull through the cage, and a lot of air flows around the hdd cage.

Have you found a case?
i know the air 540 is pretty much the best air cooling case but to me its un necessarily bulky.
hardwarecanuks did a video review on it

Heres there entire list of case reviews and they are really well done videos.
