670 sli vs 780? - Page 3

I used 670 sli to power a 2560*1600 and it did just fine, until I went off the deep end modding Skyrim.
I admit that I am not hung up on 60 fps. But I still had fluid gameplay in Metro 2033 with a couple of settings not at max.

If you don't need more than 2 gb, SLI 670's will crush games at 1080p for some time. I have only had 3 instances where sli was a problem. Had to wait a few weeks for Mass Effect 2 to get SLI drivers, Rome 2 and Company of Heroes 2 didn't support SLI. Other than that SLI has been as easy as turning it on.

Get a second 670 and save your money for a bigger monitor.

760 is a 670. And nope, 600 and 700 (up to 770) are the same, just binned higher. That's why we heard about Nvidia being pleasantly surprised and happy about their yield compared to AMD's "new" offering at the time. Nvidia had an intel moment. At least that's what I remember.

Edit: Forgot that GK110 is a different chip than GK104 because it was restructured.

No, the 660ti, 760, 670, 680 and 770 are all the same GK104 die wink.gif

With varying parts disabled.

Approx is 660ti ~= 760 < 670 << 680 < 770

just binned higher.

I don't think even this (depending on what you mean) they have higher stock voltages

I looked at 780 on ebay and they still go for 450-500 bucks, might as well just go with new for 500-550 off newegg.

but on ebay for a 670 I see some for 150-200 used and a new for $269.

It mostly just comes down to price since everyone is saying they perform about the same but only difference for my situation is pros/cons of SLI itself vs a single card and that in the future I'll have to end up upgrading again.

I guess I'm hoping that for the price that 2 670 will last me until I really want to upgrade to a $600 card in the future and bigger resolution.
If you really want to upgrade (I'd stick to the 670 for now) I'd suggest going over our marketplace and help a OCN member in need.thumb.gif

Yeah I think for my uses that another 670 will help me out for another year or two until the 780 drops in price or for when I get a better monitor.

I would totally go with 670 SLI at 1080p!

I would say go for the SLI 670's and unpark your CPU Cores.

At least in BF4 at 1080p with SLI 670's I got about 120-130 FPS on ultra prest with a Unparked 3770k. When I went to my 4930k and SLI 780Ti Classifieds I forgot to unpark my CPU at first and I was only getting about 10 FPS on average more at the same settings.

i'd sell the 670 and get a 780, 670's are about to be 2 gen's behind, the 780's have 3 gigs of vram with a 6 gig version about to drop. One 780 should play any game on high/ultra settings at 1080P no issues. You're in a pretty similar boat as me, i'm currently running 1 680. I had 2 but sold one a while back while I could still get $250.00 for the card. I'm preparing for when maxwell drops, hoping they have a decently priced 880 with 4+ gigs of vram. I'll also be getting a 1440 P or 4K monitor at that time.

100% go gtx 670 SLI. Absolutely no point whatsoever in buying the gtx 780, because not only is it more expensive, it doesnt perform aswell as gtx 670 sli and lastly your playing at 1080p...that wont even touch anywhere near the VRAM limit.

Dont listen to people in here saying 2GB aint enough, 2GB VRAM is fine for 1080p, heck I game at 1440p with gtx 670 sli and I manage.
