Thread Starter
I'm first time building and am trying to stay under $1,400.(Fail)
Tell me what you think. I want something that will be future proof without overwhelming myself.

I have never OC'd, but Id (DEFINITELY) like to have the option to add a second card in the future, so I definitely want SLI.
And Id like to know by Midnight tonight on (leprechaun voice) St.Patty's Day! ; as the MoBo sale ends and so do some other deals.

I've researched, and If i don't over clock I may as well by the Gigabyte Sniper Lg5 board (?) and the i7 4771 since NE has it on sale right now. So yeah tell me what you think. Your not gonna hurt my feelings.

Thank you and God Speed!

When you say you have never overclock, does that mean that you would like to try overclocking? Or that you don't want to overclock at all. Oh and BTW, Welcome to OCN!

As a side note: don't say the "_uture proof" word around here. You'll make somebody mad.

Totally forgot:
1. What do you want to do with your computer?

2. Resolution?

Budget is 1400.

4. Does this include the OS and the monitor/peripherals?

It's looking nice. I haven o experience with intel overclocking. But from what I've read, its kind of difficult. Swap out that RAM if you can. While Team Series might be good. Their RAM has a mad latency and has horrible bench marks (personal experience). But if RAM performance means nothing to you, then keep it. Only other thing I can think of is that 3tb HDD. I personally wouldn't use that because I don't like the idea of 1 drive failing and losing that much data. I would get 3 1tb drives and set up a RAID of some sort. But that's just me.
EDIT: I would go with a corsair case of some sort. I love corsair. But that's just me. They got a lot of nice cases that aren't over complicated to set things up in. And I doubt you need a crazy amount of room. Unless you plan on going custom loop cooling in the future.
Do you plan on going custom loop?

And why do you want to go SLI?
A single card, higher end card is preferable; less headaches, driver issues, power consumption, heat, ect. Unless you want the aethetics of dual GPUs, or you get two GPUs for the price of one like I did.

Going along what with what he said, Im not to familiar with Team series, and even if your specs on paper are fine, buying quality ram from corsair or gskill others that have an awesome lifetime warranty, i bought sticks used and they still replaced them!

Another quick question: why are you so desperate for an i7? An i5 will serve you just as well (if not slightly faster) in games as it is, and save you 100 bucks.

I wouldnt really advocate a custom water cooling loop! thats a perfect way to go waaaaay overbudget and since the OP is still new to overclocking, it wouldnt do him much good. air cooling and all in one liquid coolers perform well enough! and are wayy cheaper!
