How much power does your PC draw? Here's my results!

Hey guys!

So recently I bought this - I initially was recommended it, as I wanted (and hopefully will be) in SLI:

Here's my whole desk setup:
I highly suggest you take a look, to understand what I'm running: Click to view (Click to show)
PSU:
Corsair AX750

CPU:
i7 3770k @4.5ghz, manual 1.27v voltage (in offset mode) de-lidded

CPU Cooler:
Antec KÜHLER H2O 920 with 2x SP120 quiet editions as push/pull

GPU:
NVIDIA MSI GeForce GTX 680 OC Twin Frozr III

RAM:
Corsair Vengeance RAM: 9-9-9-24 : 4x4: 16GB

Motherboard:
Asus Sabertooth Z77

Storage:
Corsair Force GT SSD
Seagate Barracuda 3TB

Monitor:
LG IPS234V @ 70hz

Fans:
Corsair AF140 Silent Fans x2
Fractal R2 Silent fans x2

Peripherals:
Logitech G710+ Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
Anker High Precision Laser Gaming Mouse
Desk lamp

Audio:
Denon AVR-X500 Receiver
4x Celestion 3 speakers
Celestion F35C Centre Speaker
Teufel Motiv 6 Subwoofer

Networking:
TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 N900

Other:
Xbox 360 Slim
Fratal R4 Case

I've been very much intrigued by how much my PC draws, be it on load, on certain applications (ie games or benchmarks) and more so, how the rest of my rig draws out in power.
So I thought to share it with you guys!

So here were my results (all results are "true" results, thus I took into the equation for each reading the standby reading of 3w):
Standby, only a multiplug connected: 3w
Desktop Light: 23w
Subwoofer on idle (power is connected but sub is off): 6w
Subwoofer on: 9w
Xbox 360 Slim: 75w
Denon Amplifier: 38w
PC on idle: 100w
PC whilst running IBT (CPU + RAM focused benchmark): 180-220w
PC whilst running heaven (GPU focused benchmark): 260-290w
PC whilst playing Battlefield 4 multiplayer for 20minutes (CPU + RAM + GPU): 300-320w

UPDATE:
Single 680:
PC whilst running heaven (GPU focused benchmark): 260-290w

SLI 680s:
PC whilst running heaven (GPU focused benchmark): 400-500w

GTX TITAN BLACK:
PC whilst running heaven (GPU focused benchmark): 310-350w

Single 970:
PC whilst running heaven (GPU focused benchmark): 254w
PC whilst running valley (GPU focused benchmark): 260w
PC whilst playing Battlefield 4 multiplayer for 20minutes (CPU + RAM + GPU): 301w

To give you a better idea, here's how my desk looks like smile.gif!
My Setup

I hope this information is useful for you guys smile.gif!

I hope a lot of people see this and start truely believing that a good 550W PSU can run an i7 with XFire/SLI. So many people think that dual GPU automatically means 750W+. Thank you for this thumb.gif

No worries buddy!
I never thought it would draw so little - it's damn efficient I must say!

Had another user with Crossfire 290's drawing over 750w:

Wonder if he had his monitors plugged in the strip as well. Also, that's how much it was pulling from the wall, and after factoring in PSU efficiency. Have to remember that PSU watt ratings are for how much it can give, not pull. If I'm not mistaken, the higher the watt, the less efficient it is.

supposedly, but that's why you've got psu ratings. Mine is rated to be 80% efficient and by reviews, it seems that it is very much efficient. Thus I get near the perfect 750w draw from it if needed.

Yeah. Or people who think that your run-of-the-mill single GPU PC requires 600W minimum...It's such bogus but people really often give you crap if you tell them that a good 450W PSU will be more than enough for their i5 and 280X.

it's more to do with a leeway/headroom more than anything else I think. People rather have that extra space rather than be constricted to a limited power.

Headroom? i5 + GPU = 300W. You can easily overclock with 150W more. Now if they plan on going dual GPU, I always recommend 650-700W

Arcane uses roughly 480w idle, 960w load, measured by my UPS which has about a 120w margin of error (due to the 5 LED readout, which rounds to the nearest 120w increment).

Fukurou uses about 112w idle 180 load, measured via UPS with LCD readout.

No idea on the other systems, they've been pretty much sitting in a closet waiting to be used ever since I moved into this house and I don't remember what they eat off the top of my head. Circuit breaker is set up to have half the house on a single 15amp line and it trips constantly if I hook anything else up. Gotta get that fixed. frown.gif
