Too little, too late. Tropico 4 already does what this game does, better and cheaper too boot!

And Tropico 5 will have co-op & competitive MP as well, so EA can go fly a kite.

I was interested in Anno 2070 when it came out but the DRM killed it. Then I got interested again some time later but the DRM was still there and then I heard some Ubisoft servers got hacked and user information was leaked so...

Returning to the topic I'll say that the difference between Anno and SimCity is that without the DRM the first is actually a good game with solid gameplay, while the second is still crippled.

Even if it can be played offline, the gameplay is still inferior to that of SimCity 4. Smaller cities, quirky art style, limited infrastructure options, etc.

This move could also mean they're preparing to dump game altogether and let it run offline without any more updates.

Hah, i actually updated my copy last night to see if anything new had come out in patches/etc in the last 6 months.

Now this pops up, might be worth having another crack

Personally I prefer Anno 1602. So relaxing and beautiful graphics! It aged gracefully. biggrin.gif

LOL....what??

You knocking my reasonableness now? Don't mistake me, I think EA screwed up too. All, I'm saying is I'm not going to overreact and declare my love/hate for any company based on what they do. I'll either buy or not buy. If you do declare your love/hate for these companies, it will skew your view, discussions and arguments about them.

Getting emotionally invested in what these companies are doing is.....not wise.

When you look at these things this way, you can be a little less 'partisan' and be 'even handed'. I try to consider the business side of things as well; not just what I want.

BTW: The post you cite says it all, thank you for referencing it.

Personally...I don't really have much want to buy Sim City. I've read a lot about it and talked to players and it sounds like too different of a game than SC4 was and I don't think I'll enjoy it that much. However, I think I might go buy it in a show of support. EA did something right. Sure they may have skewed the truth before...possibly out right lied depending on how you look at it, but they didn't have to have Maxis fix it...they could have just left it as is and just tried to sell us a different game.

Now, I still don't trust EA to actually be doing something nice for the players for no reason and I can see the server support getting the plug pulled soon to remove any cost to EA for the game, but still...they made the game the way it should have been in the first place. If the world still hates them for doing that then you can bet they probably won't do it again...unless it just happens to help them out in some way too.
