Heaven does not rely much on the cpu that is why i ask if you can run 3DMark. if your cpu is at 55C at 4GHz, then i guess you can't oc anymore. BF4, especially MP, relies on a fast cpu as well as the cores. you do have the cores just not fast enough to feed the 280X.

My heaven score (fps) went up by 0.1 when i oc'ed my i7 from 4.5 to 4.9GHz.

edit: that 1072 is normal if your settings are 1080 8XAA and Extreme.

I will run 3dmark later tonight. I just want to make sure everything is running nicely. I am on stock cooler that is why, plan on overclocking in the future though. Also, my settings where not 1080 on heaven. They were at the ultra preset, i think it was 1600x800 I could be mistaken though, which is why I am thinking something isn't right for that setting. If I did 1080 my score is lower at around 832

thats all I got with one 7970 on 1080p an overclock to both your cpu and gpu with raise your min and max a hair but dont expect a whole lot more, try turning down the AA.

with mantle i get 130-160 fps in xfire on 1440p with no AA and 110% resolution scale, much smoother than the last driver but the memory leak is still to bad even on high and 100% resolution scale to play a full map without it dropping to like 60-80. my pc eventually locked up from it.

mantle will help you some more once its stable especially if you dont plan on overclocking your cpu a whole lot, but then again that really only helps in 64 player matches

actually, that 1072 is quite high after checking my results and no wonder - it is not 1080. as a reference, here my 7950 with a good oc, though . . .

between our cpus, scores should be very close with a bit of oc on the 280X. i think the 14 drivers are putting a damper on the synthetic benchmarks and i am not sure yet if it is affecting games using DX11. they do help when combined with mantle.

edit: but really a slight oc on the cpu will help. 4.5 is easy on the 8300 with the right cooler.

one more thing, BF4 MP is a different animal compared to BF3. expect your minimum fps to dip down to the 30s when maxed out (Ultra and 4MSAA) using 1080. keep it above 35 or higher by tweaking some settings like motion blur. your average should be very close to the 60s.

here is BF4 MP 64 with a stock 7950 and i7 4.5. Different maps will yield different results . . .

you might see lower minimum during huge explosions. that is just how it is.

Ok guys, Just ran 3dmark and I have attached my scores. My temps were in the 50c range so nothing terrible.

Let me know if this is what I should be getting. If not, any ideas on what is bogging down my new build?

your combined score is kinda low. i see you have turbo on. since you can't oc higher for now, at least check all power saving features are off and run the bench again. In BIOS, disable C1E and Cool & Quiet. In Windows, adjust power settings to High Performance.

Also, check to make sure that your RAM sticks are installed on the same colored slot. Check the manual which one is better for oc'ing the cpu - black or blue.

For reference:

Stock 7950

O'ced to 7970 GHz speeds

these runs were from the old version of FS.

Hmm, You may be on to something about power saving modes. I will disable when I get home from school and check, I also know that my memory is in the right slots(I doubled checked when I built because I am anal like that lol), Btw thanks everyone on this amazing community helping me. I plan to stay here a long time!
