Understood, as I said I am not the greatest expert on PSU's, my original point and the pic was to show that different rated PSU's pump out different rated outputs whether it be Corsair or a rebranded DELL powering Alienware, the name in the end is incidental.

Back in the good old days PC´s used 5v power as its main power source

Today its 12v not 5v power but many old PSU´s are made with very strong 5v rails as the hardware needed 5v back in the day

So that is why you see units with different rated rails it depends how old it is

This is what the rails do in a modern PSU

+12V powers the CPU, graphics card, and hard drive motors. It delivers ~90% of system power.

+5V powers motherboard chipsets, SSDs, hard drive circuitry, USB and a few other functions.

+3.3V powers RAM and low-power SSDs

+5VSB powers USB ports when the computer is turned off and powers the motherboard start-up circuitry

-12V is used for RS232

Then add in that some modern PSU´s comes with multiple +12v rails

If it is restarting once the OS starts...and has errors before the POST is complete...it pretty much has to be power related (or heat...make sure the cooling fan is spinning, but I assume you would have noticed that). Could be the mother board isn't applying the 75watts at the PCI-e slot too...the PSU could be OK. Though swapping the PSU should tell you that.

As far as the PSU question...just look at the +12v amps. That is all that matters on a PSU(well, quality of components matters too). The better PSUs won't even count the watts off the other voltage rails for qualifying the PSU. Meaning that Dell one would be a 780 watt PSU (12v*65amps= 780 watts)...since Dell wants it to look better they are adding in the wattage of the other rails that aren't used much and calling it a 825watt PSU. I've even seen some really cheap PSUs call themselves a 600watt PSU when only about 300watts was actually coming from the 12v rail.

Considering there is no branding bar the DELL, I would say it is the Power Supply crapping out, it's probably very cheap and highly overrated for the total output. A 750 Watt Corsair would be better

That could be true (psu crapping out) but plz don't recommend a overpowered (750W is too much) and overpriced PSU (corsair) instead. There are lots of other good PSU's that offer better quality/price than corsair.

Sorry I didn't mean to come across that way, I mentioned a 750 Watt because it was under the actual voltage of his original PSU and I have to admit I do like Corsair, but that was just an example I gave.

So I thought that it was the video card until I plugged in my 7950 into the MOBO and it's doing the exact same thing now. Artifacting in the exact same spots. So now I'm seeing this isn't a video card issue, it's obviously something else. Now, I am not world class computer expert, but I wish I was.. My only theory is that the power supply is going bad? I learned that when your computer turns on it is uses up the most power. Is it possible that this PSU is just going bad and isn't pushing enough watts to adequately use the video card?

Mr jonespwns, I apologise for hijacking your thread, I would suggest if I haven't mentioned it before is to try another PSU regardless of branding, I see you have installed new drivers in regards to GPU's so maybe snafu another PSU for comparison.
